you guys are stupid. the song is about fitting in. if you have seen the video you would know that. in the video joel zimmerman goes to the hospipiatl, and metephoricaly comes out of his body. and the "ghost" that comes out of his body (but is still metophoricaly joel) goes searching for acceptance, and has little side adventures on the way. no one accepts him and thinks he is weird but he keeps searching and at the end he finds a rave, and theres people dressed in costume so hes finnaly not the odd one out and eveyone accepts him. thinking that a genuis song like this, worded so beautifully, would be something so stupid as sex or drugs guys makes you sound stupid and ignorant.

If jojofursure's interpretation is right, this is how I would analyse it:

"It's been so long I've been out of my body with you, I feel alone feel at home feel like nothing is true" - his individuality is being destroyed by modern society's conformity. It brainwashes him that he should feel at home in such a desentisized world.

"She took me to a place where my senses gave way, turn it round shut it down what the people say" - a special someone took him where he can feel accepted for being himself, and forget about all the sh*t that people have been talking about him.

"Climbing up killing time let them give you some, take my hand and let it come let it come" - forgetting everything and realising his true identity is like a moment of nirvana.

"Take it back where she knows that you're doing it right, 'cos everybody else knows what they're taking tonight" - go back to the time when he is doing the right thing by being himself, rather than what society made him to be, while everyone else keeps taking the "drug" of society's brainwashing.

"But I just wanna play it right, we are gonna get there tonight" - he just wants to keep going and break out of this social norm, and just have fun for being himself.

"It's been so long I've been walking the line on my own, lift me up to the stars we are coming home" - he's felt alone and excluded for some time, and tonight he gets to rediscover his old self.

"I know we had a chase but we're out of time, we have sold in the cold physical design" - an expression of disappointment of what has already become of him.

"Set me free set me out on the run, lift me up to the sun to the sun" - but his will to seek freedom from is still growing.

"When you're burning down, it's the way that you fake it I know it's too late" - he can't save everyone else, who had all learnt to act fake through social experiences.

"I just want to take you down, we are gonna bring you round" - yet, he still wants to show everyone the truth.

Ok. I think the song is about being with a specific girl:

^This is talking about a girl he's in a relationship with who doesn't want to look like a slut, but he's still convinced her to have sex with him.

"Take my hand and let it come let it come let it Take it back when she knows that you're doing it right 'Cause everybody else knows what they're taking tonight"

^This is about pulling out before coming because he doesn't know if she's on birth control or not

"But I just wanna play it right We we're gonna get there tonight"

^This is the explanation for pulling it out

^This is about the same girl finally being on birth control and he's going to have sex with her without having to pull out.

^However, they have been doing it for too long and she's tired so she's faking an orgasm. He knows she is because he pulled out the first time when he did it right.

^This time he's expressing regret over not being able to do it right. He's also saying he wants to get her to orgasm.

Now, I don't care what the music video shows, this is the only way the lyrics make any sense. You didn't see Flo Rida getting a BJ in whistle, did you? But we all knew what that song was about.

FK, YEAH! :D You put two guys that are this awesome on anything and it's fking epic win, period. Though the beat on its own is real badass as well, if any of you have heard the original instrumental mix. :)

The vocal melodies remind me of ... um, "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak.
