Black Water Lyrics
Black water
Dripping down your face
Mountains and reconstitutions (?) embrace
Guns and steel
And the germs of love
Toe to toe
In the world of mud (?)
Guns and steel
And the germs of love
Blow for blow
For my aching heart
Black world (?)
Spread your word on me (?)
Waste me with a bang
You know, for posterity
Guns and steel
And the germs of love
Toe to toe
In the world of mud (?)
Guns and steel
And the germs of love
Blow for blow
For my aching heart
Dripping down your face
Mountains and reconstitutions (?) embrace
And the germs of love
Toe to toe
In the world of mud (?)
And the germs of love
Blow for blow
For my aching heart
Spread your word on me (?)
Waste me with a bang
You know, for posterity
And the germs of love
Toe to toe
In the world of mud (?)
And the germs of love
Blow for blow
For my aching heart

This song is without a doubt, definitely a reference to Blackwater,a mercenary, military company now known as Xe Services from my home state of North Carolina. Guns and steel and germs of love is a reference to Guns, Germs, and Steel: a 1997 book by Jared Diamond. A very good book by the way. Edward is apparently an intelligent man.
"Black water Dripping down your face" makes me think of a woman crying? and it is after the song Jade on the album... and "Waste me with a bang" just keeps reminding me of some one distressed. -just my thoughts :]
I heard them in concert. Alex introduced this song talking about how the white men had come to the New World bringing their guns and diseases while making promises with words on paper (black water being the ink). The song is about Native Americans.
