Two Dancers (II) Lyrics

O, do you want my heart between your teeth?
your hands are curling up like floating leaves
you who shall deserve
you who shall deserve

O, unpluckable flower of the moon!
O, untetherable bird of the blue!
you who shall deserve
you who shall deserve

deserters!
deserters!
deserters!
deserters!
the neighbours cup their ears to the walls
two hearts
no more

This song speaks to me in volumes. I hear A rough break up. Not only are they lost to each other.. but "Two hearts, no more" suggests that without each other these hearts cannot survive..

Love how they use the same melody from the end of Hooting and Howling for the outro for this song as well.

i think this could be from the point of view of the person who discovered the victim of part i:

for the "O do you want my heart between your teeth..." stanza, imagine the saviour is telling this to the victim, who he's wrapped in a blanket or whatever like "is there anything i can get you?", desperate to help this poor person in her fragile state (floating leaves).

the second stanza is like his adoration of her beauty, and the apparent futility of trying to give her the love she deserves due to the damage she's taken in her past - like swooning forever over an unpluckable flower or an untetherable bird.

the ending part is perhaps him shouting in outrage concerning all the people who have abandoned her - the rapists, her children - which disturbs the neighbours or something and she dies perhaps in accordance with the two hearts no more thing i dunno. harrowing pair o songs

So after listening to Two Dancers(I) and then Two Dancers(II) it seems, to me at least, like a woman that turned to prostitution for a means of making ends meet. Then in the last verse they talk about being pulled out of a sea so perhaps she met someone that wanted to take her away from that life. Because at the end the singer says "no more" Then the next song (Part 2) is possibly about insecurities in the relationship and worrying the man who saved her is starting to feel disgusted by her in the first verse. Then the second verse is showing admiration for the person which is quickly replaced by anger and blame calling them a deserter. And then "two hearts no more" the relationship has ended. Just my thoughts.
