"Always" as written by Thomas Delonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis L. Barker....
This is the start
This is your heart
This is the day you were born
This is the sun
These are your lungs
This is the day you were born

And I am always yours

These are the scars
Deep in your heart
This is the place you were born
This is the hole
Where most of your soul
Comes ripping out
From the places you've been torn

And it is always yours
But I am always yours

Hallelujah!
I'm caving in
Hallelujah!
I'm in love again
Hallelujah!
I'm a wretched man
Hallelujah!
Every breath is a second chance

And it is always yours
And I am always yours

My InterpretationIn the live performance of this song, Jon Foreman explains that it's the beginning of a life in the first verse; the innocence and the beauty of being born, the fresh life that we have in our lungs and everything is new. In the second verse, we're torn from the things we've seen and heard and experienced and the pain comes ripping from us. In the bridge we're broken but not hopeless, and the chorus brings us back to our roots; that is to say, back to God.
