Jesus Stole My Girlfriend

Ok guys. I actually know the meaning of this song cuz i met the band, they told me. He made this song because he was going out with this girl but she couldnt go out with him because of some religious crap so there ya go!

This song could be about him having a girlfriend that's developed faith in god but he doesn't believe in god. Perhaps he tries talking to her about how he sees the world but she doesn't understand it, hence "Tried so hard but lost to god" and "But I don't see the world like you do girl". And by Jesus steeling his girlfriend he means he's losing her to Christianity. She won't fuck anymore cause she believes it's a sin.

I heard this song on the radio, sounded very much to be like Nirvana. I like it. Bring back the grunge!

The first lines are saying he tried really hard to impress her and keep their relationship going, but in the end she chooses her beliefs over him. In his head he figures with time he'll end up giving in and apologizing for things he might of said that upset her and they'll get married ("This time next year I'll be married,this time next year I'll say sorry"). The line "Jesus stole my girlfriend" seems to mean two things: as long as she's only his girlfriend and not his wife they can't have sex and also literally Jesus stole her love away from him, her love has been redirected towards Christianity. Personally I love this song; it really captures the feeling of someone having atheistic views and none the less falling in love with someone who is very religious. Then when the person explains they don't believe in god they are automatically alienated and left alone.

I though it meant that she died because Jesus stole her from him

I like this song; the lyrics immediately bring to mind a guy whose girlfriend (or the girl he has feelings for) wants to be/is becoming a nun, and since nuns are "married" to God, it's like Jesus "stole" his girlfriend.
