We Were Aborted Lyrics

In the grey of yesterday
A breeze blew over exposing
A memory so small
What is it here for

Your virility, makes me forget empathy
Dig your hole
That's what we're here for

To make you feel important
cause you knew we were aborted
It's the same things that we're saying all the time

And they have everything
They kept their ribs, I'm sure of it
It's what they're all about
But getting inside counts

Mass virility, has made me forget empathy
Dig your hole
It's what we're here for

To make you feel important
cause you knew we were aborted
It's the same things that we're saying all the time
(they may be views , but they'll never be mine)

The mid-shelf masturbation
Leaves a smear on half the nation
Its the same things that they're saying all the time

aaaaaahh

Oh your virility, has made me forget empathy
dig your hole
its what they're here for

To make you feel important
cause you knew we were aborted
its the same things that we're saying all the time

The mid-shelf masturbation
Leaves a smear on half the nation
It's the same things that they're saying all the time

It's about men, blokes, and how the singer is fed up of them. Kinda similar to 'men's needs' on the last album.

"Your virility, makes me forget empathy"

He hates guys acting all macho

"cause you knew we were aborted"

Reminds of a comment by Valerie Solanas (she REALLY hated men) about how, because female is the default state of the foetus, that men are 'walking abortions'

"The mid-shelf masturbation Leaves a smear on half the nation"

He hates the lads mags and how immature they are.

"And they have everything They kept their ribs, I'm sure of it It's what they're all about But getting inside counts"

They (women) have everything, including the ribs that are supposed to be missing according to Christian folklore. 'Getting inside counts', well I think we all know what that means...

I'm literally positive that's what he's singing about. Unless anyone has any other takes on it?

Similarly to 'Of Walking Abortion' by the Manic Street Preachers this is basically an attack on malekind. The "We were aborted" lyric reffering to them as males being aborted, as Valerie Solanas states in her SCUM Manifesto (http://www.womynkind.org/scum.htm) which was also stolen by the Manics.

We Were Aborted also has other links to SCUM, such as dealing with men being emotionally incapable "Mass virility, has made me forget empathy". Magpie11's spot on the Ladmag attack further backing this up.

Great song, great subject matter

I think it's about lads mags such as Nuts and Loaded paticularly the lines:-

"The mid-shelf masturbation Leaves a smear on half the nation Its the same things that they're saying all the time"

Great to have The Cribs back.

Does anyone else think the song is actually about abortion? That is the first thing i though of i don't know why. " A breeze blew over exposing A memory so small What is it here for" they had an abortion because they thought it was really small and that it won't matter

"The mid-shelf masturbation Leaves a smear on half the nation" masturbation reduced the amount of kids made because people aren't having sex as much

and it also says "(they may be views , but they'll never be mine)" kind of send explanatory. I'm probably wrong but whatever that's what i think of
