[Chorus]
These are the tears of a hustla (hustla)
These are the fears of a hustla (hustla)
This is the year of a hustla (hustla)
This is the life of a hustla (hustla)
Tears of a hustla (tears of a hustla)
Trap to survive (tears of a hustla)
Tears of a hustla (tears of a hustla)
Fight to stay alive (fight to stay alive)

[Yung Shroom]
Why you cryin' son?
Is it the things you done?
Acting like the world ain't gave you none.
I cry cuz they die, got things on my mind.
Mothafuckas lie about bling on they grind.
These are the tears of a hustla, yeah I seen it all.
Panic and fear everytime I see the shell fall.
Wipe away your tears and fears my son.
All them other crimes can't be undone.
I'll be long gone when this battle is won,
But don't lose hope, cuz the time will come
When you pull together, and that's when you'll be a man my son.
Don't die on me, don't die on me, don't die preaching peace and harmony.
There's no world like that for me, but still I'll try till I die just to be free.

[Da Puffa]
Umma keep it gangsta till I die,
And umma do me, make it snow in July.
And in the winter, umma make it rain cash in the sky.
Look me in the face and see a killer in my eyes.
Gone through a lot of struggles, ups and downs in my
Been married to the streets, got my gun as my wife
I don't know, who am I? I'm thinkin' suicide
But when I hit the track, I'm thinkin do or die
Nothing to live for, nothing to die for
Tears hit my cheeks, cuz there's nothing to try for
Escape the pain of this life we call reality
Escape this game we call thug mentality
So umma do me, umma do me
Gangsta get money, with two Gs
Yung Shroom, I chill with him
And Lil Blunt, I kill with him

[Lil Blunt]
What the world needs now is love, that sweet love
Not that gang packing heat love, look I'm talking street love
It ain't that tearing crabs apart gets old,
It's just that sometimes a gangsta's heart gets cold
My gun's blaring, my only son's staring
He gets on the floor and he says a little prayer and
I start to wonder where my live went wrong
I start to question where the line's been drawn
Listen up, cuz you know I'll never lie
Some people say that a hustla never dies
Some people say that a hustla never dies
I say that some people are never right
20 years old, my brother was shot
Biggest G on the block, man his life was lost
He passed away, but I kept his K
Cried for weeks, hadn't slept for days
Then I got revenge, they didn't see it coming
Stunna shades on, how could they see me gunning
I got locked up, 10 years in a cell
My son's life went on, 10 years of hell
When I got out, things weren't the same
Murderin' and stealin' just weren't my game
So ya'll listen up, no thug lives forever
The only way we get out alive is together

[Outro]

[Yung Shroom]
Yeah man, that's my story. That's my life.

[Lil Blunt]
2008 man, this shit doesn't get any easier.

[Da Puffa]
This is how we live.
[Yung Shroom]
This is how we roll.
[Lil Blunt]
This is how we die.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
