Well, she lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
Forgotten the taste and smell
Of a world that she's left behind
"It's all about the exposure the, lens," I told her
The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies
Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

Well, go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba-da

So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest you can figure out
But it was a trick
And the clock struck twelve
Well, make sure to build your home brick by boring brick
Or the wolf's gonna blow it down
Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

Well, go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
We'll bury the castle, bury the castle

Whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa

Well, you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah, you built up a world of magic

Well, if it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
And I won't believe it
But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah

Go get your shovel (you'll be better)
We'll dig a deep hole (off without me now)
To bury the castle, bury the castle (ooh)
Go get your shovel (you'll be better)
We'll dig a deep hole (off without me now)
To bury the castle, bury the castle (ooh)

Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba-da
Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba
Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba-da
Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba (ba)

Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba-da
Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba
Ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba-ba-da
Ba-da-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba

    My Interpretation

I really do think this song has some sort of a reference to Hollywood and fame.

She lives in a fairy tale Somewhere too far for us to find Forgotten the taste and smell Of the world that she's left behind

Fairy tale, as in Hollywood. Glitz and glamour. 'Forgotten the taste and smell, Of the world that she's left behind' Hollywood taking over the person this song is about.

It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her The angles were all wrong now She's ripping wings off of butterflies

'It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her' Camera. Paparazzi.

Keep your feet on the ground When your head's in the clouds

I think this is obvious-- not to get caught up in the fame.

Well, go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole To bury the castle, bury the castle Go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole To bury the castle, bury the castle

the castle, Hollywood, has taken over her life, and they're trying to bury it OR shes being buried in the gossip and they're trying to dig her out of it.

So one day he found her crying Coiled up on the dirty ground Her prince finally came to save her And the rest you can figure out

This is where I kinda start to change my mind about it being about Hollywood. It kind of seems like a Cinderella moment, or something.

But it was a trick And the clock struck twelve Well, make sure to build your home Brick by boring brick Or the wolf's gonna blow it down

    Again, fairy tale reference.

Keep your feet on the ground When your head's in the clouds

Well, go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole To bury the castle, bury the castle Go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole We'll bury the castle, bury the castle

Well, you built up a world of magic Because your real life is tragic Yeah, you built up a world of magic

This takes me back to hollywood, what with the 'life of magic' part as in sparkle and shine of celebs.

Well, if it's not real You can't hold it in your hand You can't feel it with your heart And I won't believe it But if it's true You can see it with your eyes Oh, even in the dark And that's where I want to be, yeah

Go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole To bury the castle, bury the castle Go get your shovel And we'll dig a deep hole To bury the castle, bury the castle

    Yep. xD

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
