New Pony Lyrics
Once I had a pony, her name was Lucifer
I had a pony, her name was Lucifer
She broke her leg and she needed shooting
I swear it hurt me more than it could ever have hurted her
Sometimes I wonder what's going on in the mind of Miss X
Sometimes I wonder what's going on in the mind of Miss X
You know she got such a sweet disposition
I never know what the poor girl's gonna do to me next
They say you're usin' voodoo, your feet walk by themselves
They say you're usin' voodoo, I seen your feet walk by themselves
Oh, baby, that god you been prayin' to
Is gonna give ya back what you're wishinn' on someone else
Come over here pony, I, I wanna climb up one time on you
Come over here pony, I, I wanna climb up one time on you
Well, you're so bad and nasty
But I love you, yes I do
I had a pony, her name was Lucifer
She broke her leg and she needed shooting
I swear it hurt me more than it could ever have hurted her
Sometimes I wonder what's going on in the mind of Miss X
You know she got such a sweet disposition
I never know what the poor girl's gonna do to me next
They say you're usin' voodoo, I seen your feet walk by themselves
Oh, baby, that god you been prayin' to
Is gonna give ya back what you're wishinn' on someone else
Come over here pony, I, I wanna climb up one time on you
Well, you're so bad and nasty
But I love you, yes I do

Bob Dylan cover!
Best cover EVER. See this song live & say it didn't melt your eyeballs out of your skull. Absolutely perfect.
The original Dylan version is awful. i love Dylan but it was like he didn''t try.
Jack loved the lyrics and thought it would be good from a female perspective.
He was right. Another example of Jack making a cover better than the original.
You say the original Dylan version of "New Pony" is "awful". Greil Marcus of Rolling Stone Magazine on August 24, 1978 gave the album a "no rating" out of 5 stars. Many critics and fans who absolutely murdered this album with "New Pony" when it came out now often say it is one of their favorites - a classic. The "Street Legal" album is a cohesive peice of art that tells a story of the devil's lure, love lost and love found - and much more. "New Pony" is a great song musically and lyrically and is an integral part of...

The "Street Legal" album is a cohesive peice of art that tells a story of the devil's lure, love lost and love found - and much more. "New Pony" is a great song musically and lyrically and is an integral part of the albums' story. I have Dylan's entire catalogue and I am obviously not the typical Dylan fan. There are people who just like his acoustic folk music. Most gravitatate towards his Greatest Hits and are not at all interested in his catalogue of diverse albums. These are not true Bob Dylan fans. Are you a real Bob Dylan fan? If you are, I am very confused as to your comments on "New Pony". I have never heard negative comments about this song by Dylan fans before. If you prefer songs like "Knocking On Heaven's Door" and "Forever Young", it makes sense and all is fine. If not, I am officially a Rainy Day Fan 12 and 35.
this song is so fucking good. i definitely don't think the how much's ever get to be too much. allison's character of a tough ass bitch that will give anyone hell who messes with her in the dead weather is so perfect.
its a good song, but the whole "HOW MUCH?" got old after a while. especialy the part where allison is singing.
