Be Here Lyrics

Well she wants to get in
And she wants to get out
And the city calls her name
And the scars that she hides
With the stars in her eyes
Like the echoes they're all the same

Cause it's all been done before
Yes it's all been done before

And oh you can let this one go
But when the sun doesn't show
And I want you to be here
And oh now the stars never shine
And the streets are all tired
I want you to be here

Oh she's sick of this town
And the rain that falls down
But her pride just won't let her see
That when she swears that she's made
Oh with a heart that won't break
Oh she's dead but she still believes

That it's all been done before
Yes it's all been done before

And oh you can let this one go
But now the sun never shows
And I want you to be here
And oh now the stars never shine
And the streets are all tired
I want you to be here
Oh I want you to be

They can tell you that they want you to stay for what you've done
They can tell you that it's alright to be what you've become
When you go, oh you know it's for sure

And oh you can let this one go
You can try on your own
But I want you to be here
And oh now the stars never shine
And the streets are all tired
Oh I want you to be here

And oh I can try to be quiet
But my heart is on fire
Now I want you to be here
I want you to be here
I want you to be here
I want you to be here
I want you to be here

Well she wants to get in And she wants to get out But the city it calls her name And the scars that she hides With those stars in her eyes Like the echoes they're all the same

Lyric Correction

Thanks!

Actually, both lyrics are right. There are two versions of the song, the version that was recorded when they were Sparky's Flaw in college and the version rerecorded for the debut album.

In the college recording: Well she's sick of this town and the rain that falls down.

In the rerecord: Well she's sick of this town and the walls in this house.

My interpretation of this song is that it's about one of the singer's friends who has a large desire to leave the town that she grew up that's holds too many memories that haunt and hurt her. She's getting sick of her surroundings and feels that the city is calling her name, beckoning for her to leave while the singer is trying to persuade her to stay, saying that he wants her to be here, to be there for him.

I think that this song is about a girl that wants to leave her home town and all the memories that haunt her, but can't because she feels as though she'd be leaving to much behind. She tries to convince herself that all the things she wants to do has been done to many times before. She's to full of pride to see that she actually wants to stay, even if she's sick of everything. She feels like she's dying inside, she wants to break free, but she just can't. Nothing's helping her. She wants to try on her own, but the city beckons her to stay. Deep down, she knows she belongs.
