"Forever and Always" as written by and William Charles Anderson....
She's sitting at the table
The hour's getting later
He was supposed to be here
She's sure he would've called
She waits a little longer
There's no one in the driveway
No ones' said they've seen him
Why, is something wrong?

She looks back to the window
Suddenly the phone rings
A voice says, something's happened
That she should come right now
Her mind goes to December
She thinks of when he asked her
He bent down on his knee first
And he said

I want you forever
Forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
Forever and always

She pulls up to the entrance
She walks right to the front desk
They lead her though a million halls
A maze that's never ending
They talk about what happened
But she can barely hear them
She tries to keep a straight face
As she walks into the room

She sits by his bedside
Holds his hand too tight
They talk about the kids they're gonna have
And the good life
The house on the hillside
Where they would
Stay, stay there forever

Forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
And always remember
Whether rich or for poor or for better
We'll still love each other
Forever and always

Then she gets an idea
And calls in the nurses
Brings up the chaplain
And he says a couple verses
She borrows some rings
From the couple next door
Everybody's laughing
As the tears fall on the floor
She looks into his eyes and she says

I want you forever
Forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
And always remember
Whether happy or sad or whatever
We'll still love each other
Forever and always
Forever and always
Forever and always

She finishes the vows but
The beeps are getting too slow
His voice is almost too low
As he says

I'll love you forever
Forever and always
Please just remember
Even if I'm not there
I'll always love you
Forever and always

General CommentI just got this album a few days ago and listening to the songs, I wasn't really picking up what was going on, but reading the lyrics alone was enough to have me tearing up.

Anyway, just gonna state the obvious for the purposes of this site: I am pretty sure that this song is about a couple who recently got married and had so many plans for happiness, but the man is injured or ill or something. So, they're in the hospital and they're hoping with all the hope they have that everything is going to be OK. Well, the man says that even if things don't go OK, to always remember him and that he will love the girl forever and always (hence the title of the song).

This is so touching and sad. I was at a Parachute concert two days ago and they played this and... it was so different from the rest of the songs they performed which had a little more excitement. I love them, though... I am very close to Kit's family and apparently Johnny's as well, as I just recently learned that his sister babysat me many years ago and apparently Johnny "[hadn't] seen me since [I] was this big!" (insert hand indications that I was an infant).

General CommentThis song doesn't have much interpretation since it's pretty narrative. It's telling the story of an engaged couple. One night he doesn't come home. It's getting late and she's worried, when the phone rings. "A voice says 'Something's happened.'" Her fiancee got in some sort of accident I am guessing. The most obvious answer would be a car accident. She has a flashback to when he proposed to her. I love the chorus - it shows just how much they love each other and how true their love is.
She shows up at the hospital. The doctors tell her what's happened, but we never find out. She tries to stay strong and keep a straight face. She sits by him, holds his hand "too tight" (she is terrified at the thought of losing him) and they talk about their future together. They're very hopeful of him getting better. Then, I think either a) she thinks marrying him will help him pull through, or b) she realizes that he's not going to recover and wants to get married anyway, no matter how short their life together is (or both). They have a spontaneous, impromptu wedding and you can just feel the happiness at this part in the song.
The next part is what always gets me: I get goosebumps and sometimes tear up, even though I've listened to this song so many times. She's finishing her vows, but they both realize he's slipping away. He tells her he will love her forever and always, even if he's not there. It doesn't tell us in the song, but it's pretty obvious that he does die. Although we are left with the hope that he pulled through.
This is one of my absolute favorite songs, and I think of it as a total contradiction. The first time listening to it, you may think it is a purely sad song. After all, they have such a perfect love but their life together is cut short. But Forever and Always is also a happy song to me. Their love is so strong, so perfect that even death can't stop it. It's a tragedy for sure, but more importantly it is a love song, and a great one at that. Parachute always captures emotions so strongly in all of their songs, and Forever and Always definitely does not disappoint. It has amazing lyrics and beautiful vocals, and I don't think I'll ever quite get it out of my head.

General Commenti actually got introduced to this song by my fiance and it had made me tear up super quick at the end and she saw and gave me a kiss and she just recently got in a car accident and I've skipped school/work for the past week to be with her and the only thing she will listen to is this song and i know every lyric to it and so does she. It is a beautiful song and i plan on singing it to her.

General CommentI think this song is about how a boy loves a girl so much that it's insane, and the boy gets cancer, and he passes away, but he still loves her, forever and always.

and I know this will be my situation, too..

My InterpretationIt's telling the story of an engaged couple. One night he doesn't come home. It's getting late and she's worried, when the phone rings. "A voice says 'Something's happened.'" Her fiancee got hit by a car and had a brain injury. She rushed to the hospital. When she got to his room, she called a chaplin to get them married. After saying her vow, his pain got worst. Before he died he was able to get his last few words out, to tell her that he will love her forever and always.

General CommentAmariaRain you're right about the interpretation. This band is amazing, their themes of love and commitment cannot be anymore prevalent than in this song.

General Commenti told my girlfriend that i loved her so much and that the only way we would break up is if what happened in this song actually happened to me and she started crying.
