Freddie, Please Lyrics
Freddie, please
How can you do this to me?
How can you tell me you love me
when you hate me? Freddie, please
You know I love you, honey
but I'll bleed you dry with money
I'll talk where I know you can hear
'cuz Freddie, can't you see,
brother, you're the one who's queer?
Freddie, please
How can you do this to me?
How can you tell me you love me
when you hate me? Freddie, please
The stone's been rolled away
but you're picketing my grave
for loving the things you hate
And why do you seek
the living among the dead?
Freddie, please
How can you do this to me?
How can you tell them you love me
when you hate me, Freddie, please
When you hate me, Freddie, please
When you hate me, Freddie, please
How can you do this to me?
How can you tell me you love me
when you hate me? Freddie, please
but I'll bleed you dry with money
I'll talk where I know you can hear
'cuz Freddie, can't you see,
brother, you're the one who's queer?
How can you do this to me?
How can you tell me you love me
when you hate me? Freddie, please
but you're picketing my grave
for loving the things you hate
And why do you seek
the living among the dead?
How can you do this to me?
How can you tell them you love me
when you hate me, Freddie, please
When you hate me, Freddie, please

I don't think this is from Matthew Shepherd's point of view. I think it's supposed to be from Jesus to Fred Phelps.
Great song written from Matthew Shepard's (sp?) point of view. Lyrics are wrong as of 11-7-09, as there aren't any yet.

I'm pretty sure its addressed to Fred Phelps (godhatesfags.com).
I thought to myself, with Fred being a 'minister,' as he calls himself, and me being a spiritual kind of guy, I thought, I can't predict the future and I can't see inside of any people or anything, but what if Jesus were faced with Fred Phelps? How would a conversation like that go, between Jesus and Fred Phelps? So I thought about that for awhile ... and it seemed to me the right thing to do when I wrote the song, all things being equal, it felt like the most poetic thing to do to write the song as a 50s doo-wop love song to Fred from Jesus."
