Thirty and Seven Lyrics
You are infatuated with what consumes you.
Put the victim on the front lines and left for dead.
Stop acting like theres no other option but to let the waves carry you away.
Can you hold the water responsible for your wayward behavior,
any more than it blames you for its gripping currents?
Erase the proof but your shame will remain.
Your mind is the mountain before you.
Will you always need someone to hold your hand,
and talk you through the nights shadows?
Its so much easier to fight this war when youre the last in line.
Can you hold the water responsible for your wayward behavior,
any more than it blames you for its gripping currents?
What will you become? What will become of you?
Your mind is the mountain before you.
Youve reached the summit, now transcend the skies.
Put the victim on the front lines and left for dead.
Stop acting like theres no other option but to let the waves carry you away.
Can you hold the water responsible for your wayward behavior,
any more than it blames you for its gripping currents?
Your mind is the mountain before you.
and talk you through the nights shadows?
Its so much easier to fight this war when youre the last in line.
any more than it blames you for its gripping currents?
What will you become? What will become of you?
Youve reached the summit, now transcend the skies.

It's actually 'Thirty and Seven'.
Anyway this song is amazing. Spectacular album.
yea i know. it was a typo.

Also, I think the song is saying that you can't blame society for your actions. In the end it is you that makes decisions; it is you who chooses what to do. And eventually you will be held accountable for these decisions. And you may be able to cover up your decision but the shame of doing so will never leave you. And sometime there will be no one to help you decide what to do, you'll be 'on the front lines' and have to act based on your own thoughts.
Could be horribly wrong, just a wild guess for the time being.
Wow,that pretty much sounds like what it's about. It's sort of like people blaming McDonald's for making them fat.

This song entails multiple meanings, about taking responsibility for your own actions in situations involving peer pressure and complications to your faith; but also this song speaks about dependency and standing up for yourself in values and faith.
“You are infatuated with what consumes you. Put the victim on the front lines and left for dead. Stop acting like there’s no... No other option but to let the waves carry you away”’ It reminds me of how sometimes we as people can be so selfish, in terms of peer pressuring people into doing things that they may certainly not want to do, and also from the point of view of someone who is being peer pressured. Both people can decided whether they ‘let the waves carry’ them away in this selfish indulgence or pressure.
“Can you hold the water responsible for your wayward behavior, any more than it blames you for its gripping currents?” Do you think you can hold someone responsible for your own actions anymore than someone else can hold you responsible for their actions? You cannot blame the crowd (water) for your own actions, because you’re still making a choice yourself, even though the crowd (current) is going one way.
In terms of faith, we try and stand firm within the water. The water is gushing at us one way, and we try and go against the current of the water, the other way. In the end if we fall we can’t hold the water current responsible for our own actions but must take on the responsibility of our mishap, take it and move on and try again, stronger.
“Your mind is the mountain before you. Will you always need someone to hold your hand, and talk…talk you through…you through the night’s shadows... What will become of you? Your mind is the mountain before you. You’ve reached the summit, now transcend the skies.”
Speaking metaphorically, the mountain is your journey. The summit is the goal, you must climb the mountain to get to the top, but along the way you could slip and fall. But you simply will need to try again and again until you get to the top. Any hint of doubt can be your downfall, anything even a little justifiable to maybe get you out of the currently mess you are in will make you slip and fall. You just have to make your way up the mountain. And you can, everyone can.
When you are in that situation, where you do not know what to do, you can’t find a way out, you feel helpless; will you just give up, and wait for someone to come and rescue you? “What will become of you?” No, you should keep climbing that mountain, until you get to the summit. Keep fighting, keep on going. Just keep going, in full faith. Keep god in your sights on the summit. It will truly be a beautiful thing when “You’ve reached the summit” for only then can you “transcend the skies.”
Amazing explanation, loved it. :)

this might be a far fetched interpretation but it makes sense. when reading the lyrics think about the story of king david and bethsheba. King David sent her husband to the frontlines so he would die and no one would know about the baby. It talks about how it's easier to fight the war when youre last in line and thats where David was. He could do anything necessary to "erase" this sin but no matter what it was always still there in his head. Hence your mind is a mountain before you.

Erase the proof but the shame remains shows how no matter what David did to get rid of the situation he still felt awful and just kept digging a deeper hole.

I asked the band if the song was named after a bible verse (chapter 30, verse 7) and Brent told me that it was. Not too sure which verse it is though, don't have the time to look through my bible and interpret them all
Salms 30:7
"O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed."
i know theyre a religious band, but something about this really irks me. i feel like sometimes their lyrics arent necessarily religious, and stuff that applies to life in general, yet it is constantly interpreted that way. maybe thats just me and my non-christian perspective...either way they and their lyrics are awesome
