Bones In The Water Lyrics
Every time i think of pushing you down the stairs
I lick
My lips
But don't be upset, it's the only way i know how
To show you that i really care
I lie to you every chance that i get
And i make it just close enough to the truth
That you go for it every time
But don't misunderstand
I leave fingerprints outside of your window
In the shapes of positive messages
I've got a present for you
It's made from pieces of my skin
Trailing slices of pale light
Thread and needle closing in
Raking window from the pane
And ready to commit
Sway back through gray beams of slate
On fingers cold and thin
I lick
My lips
But don't be upset, it's the only way i know how
To show you that i really care
I lie to you every chance that i get
And i make it just close enough to the truth
That you go for it every time
But don't misunderstand
I leave fingerprints outside of your window
In the shapes of positive messages
It's made from pieces of my skin
Trailing slices of pale light
Thread and needle closing in
Raking window from the pane
And ready to commit
Sway back through gray beams of slate
On fingers cold and thin

I love this song! 'tis be my favourite Battle of Mice song.
Anyways, Idk what this song is about, but it reminds me of a stalker. "Every time i think of pushing you down the stairs, I lick my lips" You know how stalkers usually end up killing or trying to kill the person they're stalking. Maybe that's what she's thinking. "But don't be upset, it's the only way i know how to show you that i really care" Leaving all those weird messages and pictures and stuff like that. "I leave fingerprints outside of your window in the shapes of positive messages" Maybe going to their house and leaving things there. Writing stuff on the window.
I could go on, but I think you prolly get the idea. I mean I could be totally off, but that's why I think of!
I think so. Mainly a part " I've got a present for you It's made from pieces of my skin" made me horrified. :D And that´s what i like abou this song.

What TryNotToSmile said, but I don't think she is the stalker, she is relating what someone stalking her does through their perspective, but with her emotions.
I think this entire album is about an abusive/codependent relationship, and it sounds like the speaker is harboring a lot of ill will toward her mate, even though her actions contradict those feelings. The last part sounds a bit like the act of a wedding or of pushing into some kind of commitment with the other person, even if the other person is unknowing or unwilling at the moment. It also sounds like some other aspect of the unhealthy relationship between the speaker and the other person is the speaker's very obsessive view of the other person, to the point where she tries to control or manipulate him even just by lying to him.
A bit of background: Vocalist Julie Christmas and guitarist Josh Graham were in an on-again-off-again relationship while recording A Day of Nights, and during many of their "off" periods they hated each other, sometimes even refusing to work in the same room. I'm pretty sure the album's lyrics were written about that very relationship.
Bone in the water - the end result of the person being stalked.
