The Finisher Lyrics

Do you mean to challenge me?
Because your speech is threatening to the writer of your history,
through a future perverted by envy.

Your whisper may sway the weak, but when I speak it roars the sea.
Your challenge has been met, because with a breath I could snap your neck.

This wont be like the first time you tried,
because my patience and mercy for you has run dry.
You've watered among my bride and started seeds to feed your throning flight.

I will sing to the world your storm is capturing
and the angles will join me...
We will sing to a world reborn from suffering.
But mark my words..

Because if that tree keeps them from seeing me
I will burn off your limbs and you will never shade again.

You will bow at my feet, or I'll rip out your knees,
and make of your face, all the carnage you crave.

I am the Finisher and I am Forever.

I will sing to the world your storm is capturing
and the angels will join me...
We will sing to a world reborn from suffering.

From the armories the angels sing.
You will see them end this suffering.
From the armories the angels sing.
You will fear them when they lift their wings.

They will sing to a world reborn.
They will sing as I cut off your horns!
I'll cut off your horns!

In the Bible, the Church (Jesus' followers) is referred to as God's 'bride', so the line "You've watered among My bride and started seeds to feed your throning flight" is talking about how Satan has been planting seeds in the Church to help with his attempts to gain the throne.

I think a lot of the lyrics in this song are metaphorical/symbolic, such as ripping out Satan's knees if he doesn't bow to God. Anyways, I'm looking forward to when God does bring about the end to Satan's power.

me too, i think this song makes alot of sense, and i agree that the violence is metaphorical, and i think that the part about ripping out the knees part is talking about god pouring out the plagues upon the earth as depicted in the book of revalations, which is in the bible. but keep in mind that even though satan is as evil as he is, god still loves him, after all satan is god's son.

Anyone notice how the last lines in the album are "I'll cut off your horns."

and the album cover is a pentagram without horns. I think it's pretty sick how they are so good at incorporating that kind of stuff into all of their songs. Both albums are great concept albums :)

"because with a breath I could snap your neck" "You will bow at my feet or I'll rip out your knees" "make of your face all the carnage you crave" BRUTAL is right! "i cut off your horns" gives me CHILLLZZZZ!!! hahahahah! ok, im ready to see that! (though i know it probably wont happen)i still think its freakin GENIUS! I LOVE THEIR LYRICS!

i recently turned eighteen, and i serously think im getting a tattoo of this symbol, showing Gods victory over satan, and helping it become a well known christian symbol.

ahaha yeah man, same here. i want the broken pentagram and some of these lyrics above and below it.

It's not a Christian symbol, but an anti-satanic one.

i agree that these lyrics are brutal but hey, its satan. the line that talks about the tree is saying how satan is like a tree and god is like the sun and how he may shade us from his light. I just love how these lyrics illustrates gods power.

Its funny because satan will get owned.

These guys are giving Satan too much thinking. Making our Lord Jesus Christ look like a pagan god who can actually become angry and make others suffer too.

"...because my patience and mercy for you has run dry." In fact, God's mercy and love is what bothers the forces of evil. Finishing them and locking them up in their sinful prison would be cool for them. But hugging them with love and forgiving them is a punishment even worse.

thats a good point and i know where your coming from. but this is talking about the end times. when you read revalations. its talks about how He will come with vengence. does he not? In this case he's taking revenge for us, for his children. for all satan's put us through. this song may be pushin it to some but its just kickin satan in the teeth man. its basically Carmen's "champion" on steroids.

in the end God wont forgive satan, He's gonna throw em in hell. the whole reason why there is a hell, is for...

I don't meant to bash you Edboy; but what you are talking about is one of the biggest misconceptions of Christians and non-Christian's alike. God isn't a super lovey god. All throughout the Bible, God CAN become very upset.

The Bible calls him the warrior king who would run across battlefields, rip the enemy general's sword from his hand, and stab him through the head with his own sword.

Not to mention the countless verses about holy justice and eternal punishment. Read the book of Jude. Half of it is basically an anti-sin list that shows God's punishments for sins.

...

I definitely agree with "Bloodmoonbringer" God isn't a pushover at all. Ever heard the phrase "The Wrath of God"? He's longsuffering; he'll forgive for longer than any other, but with greater backlash when you overstep the bounds.

Throughout the Bible God show his anger and his wrath upon evil. This song is God final destroying the source of the evil that runs through this world. In Revelation we see many accounts of the destruction that God will bring upon this world and Satan while he 're-builds.' I love the passion God shows, especially in the line:

"Because if that tree keeps them from seeing me I will burn off your limbs and you will never shade again."

as well as:

"You will bow at my feet, or I'll rip out your knees, and make of your face, all the carnage you crave."

They show how much God loves us; we are considered his children and what father does not fight off the one who is harming his children.

The title says exactly where you are in this story of God vs Satan, it is the finisher, it is about God winning the battle for the last time against the devil....This whole song sends shivers up my spine, it is absolutely amazing. I think i read it before about someone explaining how this song says that satan is a tree shading us from Gods light...good stuff

Yo, seriously... this song gives me goosebumps. This is a very well orchestrated song. I really like it. We know that God is a loving God. We also know that he can't be in the presence of sin or evil. I sometimes forget the overall power and strength and surpassing ability of God. Because He chooses to have mercy on His people, I forget that He has this kind of power. It's amazing. Guys, don't forget that this song isn't speaking of God taking US out; it's about taking Satan out. Once and for all.

"Because if that tree keeps them from seeing me I will burn off your limbs and you will never shade again"

I read this verse and one of the things I think of is God not letting Satan stand in His way of saving. If nothing else, get that God will go through anything and everything to have us at His side.

i couldn't have said it better myself.
