White Sparrows Lyrics

Today I walked down our old street
Past the diner where we'd meet
Now I dine alone in our old seats
The cold wind blows right through my bones
And I feel like I'm getting old
But I wish I was getting old with you
I held your hand when we took shelter from the rain
She laughed as we picked out our children's names

White sparrows fell from heaven and carried her away
Black arrows cut the strings of my heart, I kneel and pray

Her clothes hang in the closet still
The phone sits on the windowsill
And every time it rings it gives me chills
My heart just stopped when I was told
Doctor, doctor, on the phone
Said my love was never coming home
I hold your casket gently walking to the grave
Dark clouds eclipse the sun won't shine again

White sparrows fell from heaven and carried her away
Black arrows cut the strings of my heart, I kneel and pray

They gave her one more day
To say the words I couldn't say
I'm crying in pain, crying in pain

And I'm not looking for answers
No, I'm not looking for answers
But dear God, why did you choose her?

White sparrows fell from heaven and carried her away
Black arrows cut the strings of my heart, I kneel and pray

They gave her one more day
To say the words I couldn't say
I'm crying in pain (crying in pain)
Crying in pain
Our love will remain
I'm crying in pain

Like everyone has already read, we all know what this song is about.

I almost burst into tears when I heard this song, the lyrics are heartbreaking

"They gave her one more day To say the words I couldn't say I'm crying in pain, crying in pain

And I'm not looking for answers No, I'm not looking for answers But dear God, why did you choose her?"

breaks my heart, so heartfelt.

Another amazing song off their new album, it carrys so much emotion to it. The meaning of a song is pretty straightforward, It's about a man that's wife has died and he misses her greatly as he goes on with his life and remembers all the things they use to do together.

Ahh I love this song so much... Thanks for the post (I was planning to upload the lyrics). Anyways, like TheWildSlothian said, the song is pretty straight-forward, as the song refers to the man's wife and his confusion and frustration with Fate, as he tries to understand why it took his wife (killed her). Again, much appreciation for BT for another great song & album.

As aforementioned, this song is clearly about death of his love. The lyrics are cryptic and dark, which I admit, scares me a little. A delicate man like Ben Kowalewicz isn't someone you'd expect to be making so many references to death.

This song makes me sad.

yeah thats probably what the song is about but actually, when Ben and Ian were writing the song... Ian was going through a breakup and Ben lost a dear friend and they thought that they'd mix those 2 problems up together and in the beginning of the song its kind of like a breakup and near the end its about death so yeah

Is it just me but it seems like a sequel to Surrender? "Today I walked down our old street Past the diner where we'd meet"

is pretty similr to the lyrics from surrender "She reads a book from across the street Waiting for someone that she'll never meet Talk over coffee for an hour or two"

Maybe she finally revealed her love to him?? I'm probs all wrong but who knows?

I can't put this into words >_o

I'm thinking that he had a girlfriend/wife that he loved a lot. They were perfect together, and everything was picture perfect. But then she got a sickness and died, and he was heartbroken.

When the lyrics say " The phone sits on the windowsill And every time it rings it gives me chills"

It means that she is in the hospital, and he is hoping he doesn't get a call that she is.. gone.

this song is about ben's good friend dieing cause he dedicated this song to him before they play it at concerts and apparently the woman reference is cause ian was going through a bad break up at the same time.
