Stories Lyrics
One cold night wasn't trouble enough for him
Another swallow never seemed to like enough for him*
They say the past is the past but it never treated me like this
He couldn't ask for a better understanding of how
What goes around comes back around twice as fast
He's got no hope for a cure so
He puts himself to sleep
But now we just sit back, we sit back
While we watch all of them react
So tell me what to tell you when the world won't listen
The start to the finish come on and let me hear it speak
out, and use up all the time you're given
The start to the finish come on and let me hear it, go on
Go ahead and tell your stories
She always hoped for him to take her word for word
Never knew what it felt like feeling this unsure
She's got her eyes on the time, but there's no use waiting there for him
Well she's not in the world alone, but she wanted to put herself to sleep
So tell me what to tell you when the world won't listen
The start to the finish come on and let me hear it speak
out, and use up all the time you're given
The start to the finish come on and let me hear it, go on
Go ahead and tell your stories (your stories, your stories)
Now we just sit back, we sit back
While we watch all of them react
So tell me what to tell you when the world won't listen
The start to the finish come on and let me hear it speak
Oh, you used up all the time you're given
The start to the finish come on and let me hear it,
Tell me what to tell you when the world won't listen
The start to the finish come on and let me hear
You got to speak, oh, and use up all the time you're given
It's time to come on, go ahead and tell your stories.

awesome song, i love it :D and i believe he says in the beginning one troubled night wasn't trouble enough for him
I'm definitely hearing, "A cold night" instead of, "One troubled night."
You can hear him pronouncing cold very clearly.
Now that i listen to him, and look at the booklet, its cold night :P. Amazing song by the way. Any thoughts on what its about?
I'm guessing perhaps it is about two friends or people who have a relationship and them kinda distracting each other, telling "stories" to each other, to keep their minds off the "world" who "won't listen" or ignorant people and what not.
I think it might be about two sides of a breakup, listening to both sides tell their "story", hence the title, and "she always hoped for him to take her word for it/never knew what it felt like feeling ?/shes got her eyes on the time but theres no use waiting there for him".
Maika says this song is about suicide. and i'm guessing he wrote in part because of his own dad's sucide
I fixed some lyrics, and a lot of typos, I found 2 more, and they're fixed in this.
"a cold night wasn't trouble enough for him another swallow never seemed like enough for him they say the past is the past but it never treated me like this
He couldn't ask for a better understanding of how what goes around comes back around twice as fast he's got no hope for a cure so he'll put himself to sleep, oh" a guy the songwriter might have known, or just a person in general took pills to get high, and one time wasn't enough for him. The drug taker might have lashed out on the songwriter, or hurt him in some way due to being unstable because of the drugs. Now he's so deep into his addiction, and people are finally reacting to him and the way he acted, so he either contemplated or committed suicide.
"so tell me what to tell you when the world won't listen the start to the finish come on and let me hear you speak oh and use up all the time you're given the start to the finish come on and let me hear it, go on go ahead and tell your story" Here the songwriter wants to know the stories of the 2 troubled people in this song, and he's willing to listen even though others won't.
"she always hoped for him to take her word for it never knew what it felt like feeling shes got her eyes on the time but there's no use waiting there for him
but shes not in the world alone what she wanted to put herself to sleep" She may be waiting for someone, maybe a loved one who was never in her life, or a significant other. She sits around waiting for someone who may never come, and never feels love, so she either contemplates or commits suicide.
this is so funny that it took so long for someone to post this i think it's a sign that i listen to too much highpitched weird-accent music (heh brighten)
"she always hoped for him to take her word for it never knew what it felt like feelin this unsure"
I think the song is about two people, a boy and a girl, who both committed suicide due to depression, told by someone. Yeah, Maika said it is about suicide, but not about his father's suicide: that song is called "I Can't Decide" the next of it in "A Little Faster".
to me really this song matters to the listener. it is about Maika's dad committing suicide. bcuz when it said the first line "one troubled night/one cold night/how come the night wasnt trouble enough for him" tht probably means tht something happen the night before his dad committed suicide tht kinda made Maika feel sad or something like tht. "he could'nt ask for a better understanding of how, what goes around comes back around twice as fast" his sister died then his dad committed suicide. death came around twice as fast and being tht young Maika didnt get why."he's got no hope for a cure so he'll put himself to sleep" Maika was grew up and it probably "killed" him think of his dad. and then the chorus part, to maika not a lot of people probably got affected as much as he did during the suicide.
and then the second part where it says "she"
"she always hoped for him to take her word for word" its probably talking about the relationship between his mother and father
"never knew what it felt like feeling this unsure" maika's mother probably didnt know what to do after it
"she has her eyes on the time, but there's no use waiting there for him" maika's mother probably let her life pass by for a while being sad about their loss
thts how i think it relates to the suicide
