In My Dreams Lyrics

My Love is always
just as she seems
A force of nature on the road to be reckoned with
whatever's wrong with me
her kiss redeems
And it's all there

In my dreams
In my Dreams

My love is soaring
She glides through the sky
Hardly a warning, she takes my hand
Says open your eyes
we looked down on the earth
And all its schemes
We laugh and it's all there

In my dreams
In my dreams

We swoop down the lowly clouds
Destination unknown
And then she says, lets go home

My love is resting
Under a tree
She whispers softly in my ear
As she lay next to me
That was the funnest day
Her sad eyes beam
And it's all there

In my dreams
In my dreams

I believe the lyric is "her kiss redeems" as opposed to "I kissed routines."

"We look down on the earth and all its schemes...."

Schemes as in elaborate (and maybe sinister) plans of action?

Or as in... color schemes? Hues? Rainbows?

It's so weird how the english language allows for such disparities of meaning for a single word. But sometimes the fun's in the falling down through the cracks, I guess. Open to all interpretations.

Another definition of scheme, that doesn't have much to do with the others, I think:

  • an internal representation of the world; an organization of concepts and actions that can be revised by new information about the world.

So good..

We swoop down the lowly clouds Destination unknown And then she says, lets go home

perfect metaphor for when you think you're getting somewhere with a girl, and then she suddenly ejects.

This entire album is themed around the absence of a relationship, the beginning of a new one, longing and jealousy.

To me this song is about dreaming of the intimacy that comes from true companionship, hence the imagery of the two of them soaring above the clouds and looking at the world together from a perspective no one else shares.

The protagonist doesn't have it, but it's 'all there' 'in his dreams'.
