Okay, so I think this song is about a one-sided relationship.
The narrator sleeps with the other person, and learns that he wants more, but the girl doesn't. I believe the "chemistry set" may be alcohol. The girl is using the narrator for his "looks and cigarettes," and he is jealous of the guy that the girl is with.
But hey, that's just my thoughts(: really good song.
