7 Years in the Making Lyrics
I wanna go someplace
Where everybody wins
'Cause I've lost all my friends
Since they got brand new eyes
They don't look at me the same
It's anyone's guess where I went wrong
Now I'm the only one
Who's thinking back
Seven years ago
Seven years in the making
But we're always taking for granted
The hands that fed us full
Ten miles left to go
Time is healing nothing
Only a matter of numbers
That won't make us right
But I'm gonna make it through
Hey, hey, hey
I'm just tired
So don't push me
There's more than enough room
For a sad song or two
There was a beginning to the story
But I don't remember, I don't remember
There was a reason
Something we wanted
And I'm not backing down till I get it
Twenty years ago
Twenty years in the making
Well, I know the highway
Better than I know myself
In a few years I hope I settle in to
The big idea that I can't live for anyone else
But I'm gonna make it through
Hey, hey, hey
I'm just tired
So don't push me
There's more than enough room
For a sad song or two
I'm carrying bricks around my neck
I can't keep my head up
I can't see too far ahead
I can't keep my head up
It's like carrying bricks around my neck
To make you remember
It's like digging up the dead
'Cause you won't remember
How we got here
Why we are here?
When you finally decide it's worth the pain
I'm here
I never went anywhere
Growing older, I never thought that I
Would look back and not regret a thing
Where everybody wins
'Cause I've lost all my friends
Since they got brand new eyes
They don't look at me the same
It's anyone's guess where I went wrong
Now I'm the only one
Who's thinking back

This might have been the inspiration for Brick By Boring Brick?? (One of the BEST songz, if not the best song, on the album)
This was the song they elobartaed the title of the album they were slightly considering " i lost my friends cause they got brand new eyes" but figured it was too long and a bit too dark, for their recent sound so they spliced it up and settleed on Brand New Eyes

where did you find this song and where can i listen to it?
Hayley wrote the lyrics...but they didn't fit a music type sound. In the paramore deluxe set, There is a book full of lyrics Hayley wrote. These lyrics are from there. Sadly, the song will never be realeased. :(

where did she post them? i remember seeing a screenshot of a blogspot or something with the lyrics. and then just now i was watching the dvd that came with my bne deluxe, and i saw her scrolling through lyrics on that same looking website. but it wasnt the bands livejournal. very very curious.

they should definitely record this song if they didn't already. it makes me cry.
although the 7 and 20 wouldn't be accurate anymore. but we'd still appreciate it.
i know i saw this on LiveJournal too but i can't remember... is this supposed to be on the album?
yeah it is but they said they changed a lot of the lyrics i'll be ready and waiting though

thanks. that's awesome, but also kinda sad that the lyrics will be changed. it'll probably be better, though, i guess.

I'm pretty sure that Hayley said that this song, as it is, is not on the album anymore. They've messed around with it, so who knows what it will be like. Part of it might even have been put into a different song. Who knows.
Honestly, I'm SO SAD that they aren't gonna have love songs on the album, cuz the love songs are often my faves. :( Oh well. I hope this album isn't disappointing...jk jk I know it won't be.
but the friendship stuff is so good!

These songs can be seen in all different ways, where as love songs are directed to a certain person. These "friendship" songs are more universal.

this song didn't make the record, but she said she used parts of this song to make others on the record.
obviously it's about the band. The title "7 years in the making" refers to the band being...well...a band for 7 years now (it was mentioned in an interview I saw). I kinda think this song is about the band being started for a certain goal or achievement, but it's faded away...kinda like the mainstream life has taken over the band and it's true identity (i.e. being referred to as the "Twilight House Band" and "that mtv band".)...maybe. I don't know, all I know is what the title referred to.
this is where they got the album title brand new eyes she said it was in a song but it wasnt ready for the album just yet
