Summer, Man Lyrics
yeah,
i played dead, immersed
in that technicolour kind of black and white type,
counting one, two... seven through the roof
if my lady only knew how high i am,
i am tonight
i crack open the safe myself, nine,
fourty-five, twenty-two, june until september,
three months 'til december
the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."
'cause i ain't working for you anymore,
no, i ain't working for you anymore,
so go prove to the world what you
already proved
that you just couldn't do on your own.
let's have a talk about the good times
but you were always giving in
let's have a talk about the good times
boy, you were only giving in
the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."
the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."
let's have a talk about the good times
but you were always giving in
let's have a talk about the good times
boy, you were only giving in to...

as a senior in high school, i can definitely relate to this song
Does anyone else feel like the beginning of this song is really reminiscent of Fred Mascherino's stuff? It would sort of fit the song's reminiscing nature and the fact that Fred left in the fall of '07.
The intro actually reminds me mainly of Sleep. Guitar intro and then a practically identical "Yeah!" haha.

Great song nevertheless.

i guess it was the guitar effect... Fred uses that effect quite so often

I can see the Mascherino influence in the phrasing. I never put together that this might be about Fred though. Interesting thought.
really good.
summer romance?
i can relate.
First time I heard the song, Fred popped into my head. I feel its about the summer tour winding down and it was all over with Fred being in the band. And it talks about "giving in" as Fred has said at times, he gave in to the music at times, because they wouldnt allow him to write his own songs for the band. i think this is a direct shot at the fragile relationship with TBS and Fred
Come on man....your making this up....not all of their songs are about fred or jhon leaving the band... come one...its just gay.........

I agree with the Fred stuff. He left after the last tour which was Project Revolution (June/July-September) and the guys probably knew he wouldn't be back.
i think the "and i doubt i'll be seeing you around" might have two meanings. 1) fred won't be in the band so they won't be seeing him. 2) it says something about how he can't do it on his own so i think it might mean that his solo career won't go anywhere and that no one will see him around because he won't be famous or popular without taking back sunday.
Bitter much?
Is this song called "Summer Man" or "Summer, Man"?
Summer, Man
Summer, Man
this is one of my favorites on the new record, along with swing; lonely, lonely; and capital m-e :) TBS = <3
