You Never Know Lyrics

Come on children
You're acting like children
Every generation thinks
its the end of the world

And all ya fat followers
Get fit fast
Every generation thinks it's the last
thinks its the end of the world

Yes dream down a well
There's a lone heavy hell
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
It's a feeling we transcend
We're here at the end
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
You never know

Come on kids
You're acting like children
Act your age
Put back the black metals and pearls
All ya sword-swallowers pull yourselves together
Every generation thinks its the worst
Thinks it's the end of the world

It's a secret I can't tell
There's a wish down a well
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
It's a long heavy hell
Super-size it by 10
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
You never know
You never know

It's a dear to transcend
Everyone here, at the end

I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
You never know

I thought it was about the paranoia that every generation has gone through about the world ending, but it never has. It's about that and how people seem to be waiting for the end to come around.

It's funny how many people are claiming that this is a rip off of My Sweet Lord (I agree, btw), because I actually think it is also very similar of two Guided By Voices/Robert Pollard songs:

Check out "Love Is Stronger Than Witchcraft" for the verse of the song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM44aA-SFSE

Check out "Little Whirl" by Guided By Voices for the chorus - sorry, no link.

yep noticeably similar to little whirl. a tobin sprout composition though.

Isn't My Sweet Lord a rip off as well from some '60s girls group?

Anyone else notice the George Harrison "My Sweet Lord" guitar part in this song? Kick ass. =)

C'mon, it is an obvious Tom Petty rip off (Jammin Me). I agree that some riffs at the end are Harrisonesque. It also has a part reminiscent of the Beatles "Happy Just to Dance with You" - which was sung by Harrison, though written mainly by Lennon.

I like the words: Come on kids You're acting like children (that means, trying to look older than your age looks foolish) Act your age (that means, be children, be naive, pure...) Put back the black metals and pearls (again, return to the natural, leave piercing and tattoo etc...)

I agree with the message. And JT is not preaching, he is telling it with a loving smile. It also connects to George Harrison who was sort of a symbol of flower generation.

oddhat you're a little off..

Come on kids(referring to adults but calling them kids because of their irresponsible ways) You're acting like children (explaining why he's calling them kids) Act your age(He's telling adults to grow up and quit being unkind, disrespectful, violent etc.)
