Wild Horses

I enjoy the melody and the music, but I actively dislike this song because of the lyrics. They’re entirely too creepy for me to listen to comfortably. He starts off pitying himself for the way he feels, which isn’t too egregious, until it builds up to “like the chemicals that war in me, til I’m a wolf with an eye for the ponies”... which, to me, sounds like he’s gonna rape her. Barf. I’m sure someone reading this will think I’m being entirely too sensitive, but as someone who has been in the position of the girl in the song, this is a really tough listen.

I'd completely forgotten about this track until I decided to do a Prefab Sprout shuffle, I like the production on this. Surely this song was written about growing old and yearning for youth, although it almost has a perverted edge to it. An old man attracted to a very young innocent girl. Jenny Agutter saying 'I want to have you', to me sounds like a cruel taunt, tell the old fool what he thinks he wants to hear, break his heart, then run with the Wild Horses!

At first, didn´t read the lyrics, so I thought it was really about horses and ponies. Then a girlfriend told I was wrong and suddenly, like I was striken by a thunderbolt felt like this song was written for me.
