Trainfire Lyrics

How in the world we gonna make everything alright?
How in the world we gonna make everything in time?
Train burning, all night burning...
Trainfire up and down the line.

How in the world we gonna make everything alright?
How in the world we gonna make everything in time?
Train burning, all night burning...
Trainfire up and down the line.

Sex sees seventeen year old
Moving me up and down the poll
You won't tell me what I need to know
So the train burns, all night burns, Trainfire up and down the line.

Move me

How in the world we gonna make everything alright?
How in the world we gonna make everything on time?
Train burning, all night burning...
Trainfire...

Trainfire up and down the line!

Sex sees seventeen year old
Moving up and down the pole
She don't tell me what I need to know
Train upon the quantum, a Kai, the string theory...
Trainfire up and down the line!

Trainfire, trainfire, trainfire...

So, you called my name
Left on a weary road beyond your ways
May all the other colors of your name
...go.

Cover art for Trainfire lyrics by Devin Townsend

I actually asked Devin himself about this tune.

I kind of gathered it was about sex/sexual relationships with people. I think that the whole idea about making things okay, mixed with things being on time kind of asserted that sex and/or sexual relationships with people can take a pretty huge toll on one's subjective well being.

When I asked Devin, he replied with this. (paraphrased, obviously, I was melting with excitement at the time)

"I think it's about the huge and powerful emotions in people that sex conjures. The woman at the end.. well, it's supposed to be the higher voice, or a spirit voice, or something. An objective view of one's self. Basically, if you stop thinking about your wiener, you'll be okay."

He was very humbling to talk to.
