A Manner To Act Lyrics
baby don't touch me like you did in the summer
when i woke up just to hear
speakers made of tin cans piercing through my window
like a cold breeze on my ears
sitting on a stoop in the autumn
look so tired, i could tell that it's under your nose
oh it's much too far to be walking all night myself
would it matter to act like a heart attack?
because looking back, it would have worked out like this
nine o'clock is late for the sun
but the subway's only seven blocks away
and i'll be there soon
but walking through the boulevard
it never seemed as bad as any other time passing through
keep on looking down at the paper with hope, addressed:
no one can hear your pocket full of keys
oh and pain, feel the skin that's calloused on my feet
would it matter to act like a heart attack?
because looking back, it would have worked out like this
i got your sisters in my eyes
and there are too many things that I feel like no one's talking about
when i woke up just to hear
speakers made of tin cans piercing through my window
like a cold breeze on my ears
sitting on a stoop in the autumn
look so tired, i could tell that it's under your nose
oh it's much too far to be walking all night myself
because looking back, it would have worked out like this
but the subway's only seven blocks away
and i'll be there soon
but walking through the boulevard
it never seemed as bad as any other time passing through
keep on looking down at the paper with hope, addressed:
no one can hear your pocket full of keys
oh and pain, feel the skin that's calloused on my feet
because looking back, it would have worked out like this
i got your sisters in my eyes
and there are too many things that I feel like no one's talking about

some of these lyrics are really hard to discern, so some suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
little corrections:
"a manner to act like a heart attack"
"the subway's only seven blocks away and it'll be there soon..." "keep on looking down at the paper with hope addressed..." ??
"i got two stitches in my eye"
It's hard to make out, but I'm not sure about the "a manner to act..." correction, even though that IS the track title, lol. "Would it matter.." makes more sense and it sounds like it to me, but who knows?
The rest of the song is a bit cryptic anyway, any ideas about what it means?
It does seem really difficult, but i think its about young love. Maybe like describing their relationship that they had one year that ended because they were just too young. now they are looking back trying to figure out what the hell happened.
I think it's about growing up, one summer you "fall in love" and shortly thereafter despise that person for either what they did to you or just how they are. The two people have changed dramatically. "baby don't touch me like you did in the summer" ^sounds slightly angry or bitter to me
Major Corrections:
"baby, oh, touch me like you did in the summer"
"sittin' on a stoop in the yard i looked so tired, i could tell that it's early you know oh, it's much to far to be walking all by myself"
"Keep on looking down at the pavement with hope that there's no one who can hear your pocket full of keys"
i feel like this song talks about being mugged on the way to the subway D:
Come again?
