Oh, you love to hear her moan
And when you come around
And hope that she is alone
'Cause the weather makes the sound
Its alright she says...
Come inside she says...
Come inside...
My love, call it skin beneath the moonlight
Was a vision of a better time
When you and I have different lives
Is something the matter?
No, she brought him to the finish line
Saying you will learn in due time
She shook and moaned and spread her thighs
Oh it's alright she said...
Come inside she said...
Come inside...
This is...
How hope is gone
This is...
How hope was lost
Now hope is gone
Well you know, that thing before that bothered me
The man who owns me rightfully
Has quite a hefty policy
Well accidents happen
So, with an implication in the air
I turned an bolted out of there
She followed and made me aware
I'll get what I want
If you don't, I'll tell you how my story goes
He broke into the window
With me in just like any clothes
You made me undress, then...
You came inside she said...
Get back inside she said...
Get back inside...
So this is...
How hope is gone
Now I know...
I know
How hope was lost
And when you come around
And hope that she is alone
'Cause the weather makes the sound
Come inside she says...
Come inside...
Was a vision of a better time
When you and I have different lives

No, she brought him to the finish line
Saying you will learn in due time

Come inside...
How hope is gone
This is...

that makes me think of a prositute.
Well, that part that u quoted makes me thing that he is actually talking about God, being that he has a very religious background saying that if commits this sin that it would 'break the policy'...but thats just my intake.

Yea I agree that it is about a prostitute. The start of the song is about how he hopes that she isn't with another client because he only wants to see her. The song then talks about how they wish that their circumstances were different i.e that she wasn't a prostitute. The woman encourages him to 'come inside' telling him it will be fine. Then she gets pregnant 'accidents happen' and her pimp 'the man man who owns me rightfully' either wants her to abort it or some other unideal consequence 'has quite a hefty policy'. So she blackmails the...

Personally this is what i got from it.
it's the "window" makes a sound, not weather. He's creeping into her window, he hopes that her husband isn't there cause the window will wake him up. She reassures him that it's alright. Then it talks about their lives apart. He comes inside. The man that owns her rightfully is her husband, he's got good life insurance..cause accidents happen...With that being said, he's GONE, he's outta there!(How will she explain this baby to her husband? because he came inside..) So she gets pissed off and tells him what her story will be, he broke into the window, with her in just her evening clothes..he made her undress and then, he came inside. now..all hope is lost
Wow. I'm kinda speechless. I believe it has to do with him having sex with a girl. When he's about to pull out she says stay in. So she ends up getting pregnant. He has mixed feelings and she says this is what you have always wanted. Blaming him for the situation. Then towards then end she ends up saying that he broke in to the house saying, basically, that he raped her.
oh..and i believe he says window, not weather..."'cause the window makes a sound"
Knee jerk reaction alert. I heard Wars, Dream Away, Word Ain't Right, and Vol. I&II and I hate to say I'm a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong this is a very complex album I'm sure I'll appreciate much more down the road. My problem is I had such high expectations. I thought this would be there breakthrough album. However, songs like this are good but the vocal style and the lyrics are a bit off-puting. The rest is like a early Coldplay on steroids. Which is something I'd normally enjoy but a weird song about fucking is below Hurt, in my humble opinion. Ahhhhhhhhhh just imagine the musical talent these guys have.
i rly love this song and wat i think is...it has much to do with the greek mythology of pandora's box....the whole thing bout temptation of opening the box is like the temptation of making love to a beautiful woman and on the box side of it all...opening pandora's box brought pain, misery, and most of all...loss of hope so i rly think HURT did an excelent job with song as i am a sucker for greek mythology lol
Saw them play this live and that's what got me hooked on this song. The recorded version needs the violin parts a bit louder IMO, as it was awesome in person.
I don't think the song has anything to do with her being pregnant. She gets this guy hooked on being with her, sleeping with her, and tells him it's ok to "come inside" even though he was hesitant... "Is something the matter?" Now she has him trapped... "You will learn in due time." I think ultimately she is trying to get her lover to kill her husband for his hefty insurance policy... "well accidents happen". If he doesn't comply, she will claim she was raped since he "came inside". Now he's lost all hope of living a normal life.
brittanytheBOMB nailed it! :)
English is not my mother language so i didn't quite get the "hefty policy" right.."learning in due time" is probably just a sentence that prepares us for her revelation to him about her plans of killing her husband (making the guy that came through the window do it actually), so yeah britannytheBOMB got it no doubt, thanks :P
Pandora-Greek Mythology The first woman, bestowed upon humankind as a punishment for Prometheus's theft of fire. Entrusted with a box containing all the ills that could plague people, she opened it out of curiosity and thereby released all the evils of human life.
