The End Lyrics
Here alone, standing barefoot in our lawn
Worms squeezing their way through my toes, tonight that's how it goes
I'm at your window kneeling quiet
I thought at least I'd maybe try to get your head right
Your heart right, let him go
Then through the glass I see your dress fall to the floor
As he embraces every inch of you, the woman I adore
I can't believe the way you're bending
Can't believe this never ending moaning asking him for more
Begging him for more
How far will I go to make it feel right?
Come home, I have to fix this on my own
Replace my heart
'Cause I'm convinced mine broke the day I let us end
Replace my heart
I don't wanna live by coping, I'm done with hoping
End
I creeped in close enough to see the way he touched her
From her feet across her knees inside her sweetest spot
He pleased and pleased her
I turned around and tried to take control, but no control was capable
A centerfold of how less than low can possibly go
I squeezed the life into my brain like pushing knives into a vein
I've gotta get, I said I've gotta get inside
So to the back window I crawl in silence standing in the darkness
Of my living room, this used to be my home
How far will I go to make it feel right?
Come home, I'm moving forward to the bedroom door
Replace my heart
'Cause I'm convinced mine broke the day I let us end
Replace my heart
I don't wanna live by coping, I'm done with hoping
End
I turn the doorknob with two fingers to be slow
Enough to sneak into the room among the corner darkness gloom
I had to see this happening
He pushed himself so deep inside her clapping rang
And bounced off every wooden walled room
And that's when all went silent blank except for the colour red
As I walked calmly numbing paralysed beside the bed
I said "I know I'm not allowed to be here
I just had to see how good your new man really fucks you
'Cause you both been fucking me"
So now I planned the last thing you can both do as a pair
I tie both blindfolds tight around your fucking eyes to blind your stare
I don't want to alarm you, but I figured we could end this in
What seems easy quick and painless, man
So I'll get down to business
I choose you first, there's a gun, it's at your head
So laugh at me one more time but put your face inside the bed
You should watch me while I do this shit and learn from what I've said
I cocked the pistol pulled the trigger, and all I saw was red
How far will I go to make it feel right?
Come home, I have to fix this on my own
Then the screaming oh, the screaming
It's nice to see you scared of such a weak and stupid husband
Who knows you never really cared
I'll leave you with a question that I need to hear from your head
Was all this worth it knowing you have just seconds left to live?
Now think about your answer, laying face down on the bed
I cocked the pistol pulled the trigger and all I saw was red
I gently stroke her arm as she lies lifeless on her back
Then placed the barrel in my mouth, all I saw was black
Worms squeezing their way through my toes, tonight that's how it goes
I'm at your window kneeling quiet
I thought at least I'd maybe try to get your head right
Your heart right, let him go

My guess is that the guy was married to her, she left him for the new guy. I kinda get that from the "this used to be my home" lyrics.
Darkest song on the album, and possibly of the band's career. First time i heard it I shook at the bitter descriptiveness of it and thought "what a horrible song... Anyone who truely enjoys that needs to see a psychiatrist". Now, 3 days later, it's my favorite song on the album. It's real.
This song is intense! My favorite from the ablum other then Dirt Room. So creepy. In the song, was she cheating on him and he caught her? Or did they seperate and he couldnt bare to know that she was with another man?
Probably the blackest, darkest fantasy to come out of Justin Furstenfeld's head, and it's brilliant in its morbidity. I imagine it's the companion piece to "Come in Closer" and really, the downside to the upside of it (though I imagine thinking of that song as light is hard, but compared to this, anything is). It's a simple song to get though; think about it. Man knows wife is cheating on him, man gets sick at the idea and snaps, then commits murder-suicide. It's really an odd choice to put at the end of "Approaching Normal" but nobody can say they lost their edge with this one. It makes me shake listening to it, but it's definitely my favorite.
I think they already had broken up, and he had gotten jealous.
"I said I know Im not allowed to be here, I just had to see. How good this new man really fucks you cause you both been fucking me."
This both implies that they had broken up, by him saying "I know I'm not supose to be here" And that she was cheating on him since before they broke up. "Cause you've both been fucking me"
This is the darkest song I've heard from BLue October and a new favorite. I love the new album, I've even been listening to it in school, lol.
Woo. Listening to this song honestly terrified me the first time. I couldn't decide whether I loved it or I hated it. I've decided that it's a mix of both. Definitely a bit intense for an ending song, I think I prefer Graceful Dancing in that regard.
But honestly, this song is purely inspired, for all of it's creepiness. It would seem that Justin has a weird fetish for sneaking into peoples houses and killing them in Approaching Normal (Dirt Room seems like a less intense version of this song), and it kinda disturbs me. BUT one of my favorite bands is Disturbed, so that's a good thing.
Love it, Love Approaching Normal, Love Blue October in general.
Dirt Room is completely different.

Dirt Room is about kicking a drug habit. This is a thousand times crazed compared.

Dirt Room is actually about a dude who tried sueing him, stating that he wrote the song "Hate me". If you search youtube for the Dirt Room story it will explain better...

Beautiful, beautiful song.
Justin does the best "pissed-off-I-caught-you-and-I-hate-you" rants ever...
crazy, intense, morbid, amazing.
Very Justin....
I love this song, but has anyone else noticed that after he mentions blindfolding them he says "sit and watch me while I do this" ? this really bothers me.....

This song is mad awsome! Very dark, very real. Great lyrics. I'd have to agree with the bunch of people saying that they have alrwady broken up in the song going by the lyric "The day I let us end" An absolute amazing song about losing someone you love thus losing your mind.
definetly my favourite off the album twisted but insanely catchy
