Sweet Delilah Lyrics

Sweet Delilah come inside,
Won't you mend my broken bones?
The more that I get tossed aside
The more I beg you not to go
I'm building up a wall
And I can't get over it
I slip into the false again

I said woah,
No you know I've been a fool
And I said whoa,
No I fell in love with you
And I said whoa,
No I know I've been a fool
When i said..

Sweet Delilah can't deny
That she was happy long ago
25 and full of life
The more I begged her not to know
White paint up on the walls
Pretty pictures of the day
I slipped into the false again

I said woah,
No you know I've been a fool
And I said whoa,
No I fell in love with you
I said whoa,
No I know I've been a fool
And I said,
Oh yeah

And I said whoa,
No I know I've been a fool
And I said whoa,
No 'cause I fell in love with you
And I said whoa,
No well I know I've been a fool
And I said

Ohh no you know I've been a fool
And I said lord knows that I fell in love with you
I said ohh no,
Well I know I've been a fool and I said...

I think this song is about a girl who he used to date until he cheated on here like forever smacked said or he was just being an ass to her and she would look back when she would feel trapped too when she was in her young years and had the world in her hand. This is maybe his way of making up to her for what he did.

This song is OBVIOUSLY making reference to the history os Samson and DALILAH, she betrayed him, that's why he's a fool for falling in love with her, and that's the reason of all the rest of the lyrics... J took the history and used it to express his own one in a beautiful way

i think the I've been a fool part is about him falling in love with her, it was a mistake instead of the other take on it as being he has been a fool as in screwed things up by cheating or something.

Actually..i think that he's just singing about a girl with which he used to be in a relationship, the first verse is (i think) about how the relationship was going and the "building up a wall" is about him building a wall of emootions that took him down all the more when the relationship ended.

So the chorus is about him singing how he's been a fool for falling in love as much as he did, and it usually ends with "I know i've been i fool WHEN i said....(stops talking)" which probably refers to him being a fool when he said she loves her, because it's quite often that people tell their partners they love them (not to mention how easy some people say that) and then the partner hearing that takes it for granted and after some time loses interest..people are just imperfect that way :)

The 3rd verse part "Begged her not to know" kind of proves Forover Smacked's interpretation, but "slipped into the false" in my opinion again proves that he fell in love and SHE didn't return it right so he finds himself being a fool because of that..

That's my take.
