Death Blossoms Lyrics
On dirt like stone
The lions pace the bones of men
That sought to overthrow
Or all that remains
Oh, what they stole
Was innocence, the slate once clean
Has gone as black as coal
Time and time again
Take a look around
The tide is turning upside down
The image of the world
Reflects inside the child's eye
This world
No self-control
No sense of time
No bleeding hearts, no long good-byes
We grow colder every day
But is it all a show?
A game we play
Society vice queens, so fucking bored
And so cliche
Take a look around
The tide is turning upside down
The image of the world
Reflects inside the child's eye
We eat our own to stay alive
Slow and steady now
Slow and steady now
Slow and steady now
Slow and steady now
Slow and steady now, it's time
Take a look around
The tide is turning upside down
The image of the world
Reflects inside the child's eye
We eat our own to stay alive
Around, take a look around
Watch this world reflect
Inside a child's eye
We eat our own to stay alive
The lions pace the bones of men
That sought to overthrow
Or all that remains
Was innocence, the slate once clean
Has gone as black as coal
Time and time again
The tide is turning upside down

Starting with the "We eat our own to stay alive", I think that means at the expense of our children we're bettering ourselves at the current moment and ruining the future for them. Such as global warming/ruining the earth etc. I kind of gathered that from the part where it says the image of the world reflects inside the child's eye, but I suppose it could also be taken in other ways such as knocking other people down to help ourselves, or even more literally eating other living beings (animals) for food. Also has to deal with the poor state of society because mostly everyone is all about themselves (Society vice queens).
Your generally on the right track of the older taking from the younger, but I have to disagree that this song is exactly about what you have said. I beleive its more about how the innocence of children are taken by those who only want money. More info below.

x_no_poison_x, FUCK YOU. Where else is anyone who doesn't have the luxury of owning a $100+ game and $300+ gaming system supposed to get the song?
I'd also like to add, I recently played the game at my friends house, and most if not all of these lyrics are correct if I remember right.
really good. actually kinda wish appeal to reason was more like this. not quite sure what it means though...
I posted them because I asked someone on youtube who had posted the song to give me them, cause he had the actual song/game. And as mxbrady said, not everyone has the money for the game. I trusted the guy would have the right lyrics since he owned the song and apparently took time to upload songs to youtube so i didnt think he would mind spending a little extra time giving the correct lyrics. And I didn't figure anyone here would get around to posting them anytime soon, and genuinely thought the guy would have the correct lyrics.
what album is this on?
You can't find it on any of their albums I'm afraid. It was actually released exclusively for guitar hero, and that's a shame, because it's such a great song.

This guy actually posted this on here thinking someone would respond instantly, but over two years later someone has yet to do it. He could have just Googled it.

This song is pretty vague, but I think it's still capable of being transcribed. For instance the first two stanzas make little sense to me.
But the chorus kinda tells me that, if you were to look around and compare what's going on to something innocent, that things are branching off into degrading factors, as if they were some sort of, I don't know, blossom of death, hence death blossoms.
Next stanza can be watered down to: people can't control their compulsions, people don't feel a sense of urgency, people don't feel empathy for others, people don't care about each other enough to be meaningful, and what is already in its simplest for, we grow colder.
And I think the stanza after that is almost a defense for the previous one, but in a somewhat sarcastic sense. The question is asked: but is all of this stuff just a game anyways? Just some show, that really has no point? Just something cliche and boring.
And the last thing is the whole, "We eat our own to stay alive." Let me make this known, obviously most bands use metaphorical language quite often, but I'm pretty sure this is meant to be taken literally. And I know everyone likes to think music is up for whatever interpretation you think of, therefore a song means whatever you want it to mean, but if the writer gives a song a certain meaning, then that's the meaning of the song.
That being said, I believe that the meaning of that line is a text book example of us blossoming death; by literally eating our own earthlings. Looking at the song, it follows everything that is being stated; us growing colder, us not having a sense of urgency, us not caring about each other in a meaningful way, us not having self control, us not having a bleeding heart, so we eat our own. And frankly, that's the biggest death blossom there is. You all suck.
I believe this song is about how our world is destroying childrens innocence through TV, violent games, and generally sending them the wrong message. Hence the lines: "What they stole was innocence" - loss of innocence. "The image of the world reflects itself in the childs eye" - Children see the world through technology, and dont know for themselves what is right or wrong. "We eat our own to stay alive". This is the most contraversal statement, yet its actually quite simple. The people who ruin the innocence of children dont care about what they are doing as long as they get a paycheck at the end of the week. -Zest
Why would Rise Against, a rock band, write about how media such as video games corrupt kids? The whole "video games make kids violent" has gone hand-in-hand with the "rock 'n' roll makes kids violent argument over the years.

sorry but these lyrics are mostly wrong. which is sad because the correct ones are in guitar hero. so whoever posted this doesn't own the song. and should not have posted it.
