He is sharing his emotions and talent, but I certainly do not think he wants anyone's sympathy. Secondly, I think "doing me some lines" has a duel meaning; but my first impression is cocaine, not music lyrics. With that being said, I wouldn't consider him a 'cokehead'.
Unless there's some deeper meaning to this song, I'm pretty sure that it's about the narrator's girlfriend/wife cheating on him with some other guy, and he wants to kill that man, but he still loves her... lol ^^ But dude, where'd you hear this song? Know it's on the next album, but I've only seen the myspace releases of Wars, World Ain't Right, and Dreams Away...

Yeah, I think it's a bit deeper than a wife cheating. It seems that the writer is the other man, and he's losing control of his emotions--perhaps b/c the child of which the song speaks is his. Either way, he becomes too attached to a woman that didn't belong to him. It seems that he is putting everything in her hands at the end of the song: "will you let me know, when you let me go"

Than why not say "rhymes" instead of "lines"? Granted, "lines" sounds better than "rhymes." (And lines can refer to music) Yet how many other songs has J. wrote that may relate to drug use? Overdose, Loded, Better, Pills, and this one. (And I may be missing a couple.) Now, I'm not suggesting he is a cokehead, but it my opinion, someone who does what J. does will, at some point, be exposed to many drugs (or any person in the entertainment biz... how many times has trey parker from Southpark made reference to cocaine?).
