Fell in love this song instantly the first time I heard it live when Mimicking Birds opened for Modest Mouse.
I think this song might be about getting older in life and finding a relationship with someone that you can count on and who can also count on you. One eye each from two people can see more than two eyes from one person. The burning star represents the frailty of our lives, as anything that burns will eventually burn itself out, just like all our lives will eventually end one day. Live life to the fullest, and appreciate how special it is to have a bond with someone who will always be there for you no matter what.

I also found out about this band while they were opening for Modest Mouse. They have an amazing sound. favorite song is "The Loop". I just want them to release an album... I desperately need to get it.
"Shining brightly making sure you dont float too far" This seems to be a nautical reference (ships used to use the stars to navigate).
I'm in love with this song. My favorite is Cabin Fever though.

And I might add I love the themes for a lot of their songs with space. It's not hokey in any way it's beautiful. I hope more people start listening because like a lot more bands this band has been overshadowed with crap.
I think it has to do with getting through life with an accepted and inevitable uncertainty...and realizing, for better or worse, we only have so much control and we need to look after each other, but nothing is guaranteed. It has both figurative and literal meaning. After all, we are literally all made of "star stuff", all of our atoms are leftovers from some cosmic event some billions of years ago. We are all, quite literally, stars.
