The lyrics are a little off. This is what I hear.

Great opening track. It seems to be about digging your own grave and having the whole world turn on you.

Rock bottom is where this person is. So low down, in fact, that hell is the next stop. This is a song about someone whose luck has run out. About someone who’s made so many mistakes, there’s no way to reverse them. Why? Because he has the Devil on his shoulder. Nothing is going right — he can’t even sell his soul because of all the abuse it’s taken. The lines “Follow the rainbow, my lucky omen, there ain’t no pot of gold, just copper tokens” means that even though we have this fantastical idea of how wonderful life should be, at the end of everything, it’s all just an illusion. Life isn’t that great; when we think we’re getting gold, we get copper tokens.

I love this song !<333 i think Its about a guy who did a lot of bad things in his life and he thinks that he is so bad that he has the devil with him

just my oppinion on the song ... then again I could be wrong I LOVE BILLY TALENT <333333 billy talent III is the best cd I own right now and trust me I have ALOT of great cds :)

I think that guy who is the main person was a very bad man. But he now realizes that he was`n right and did a lot negative deeds. Now he tries to change himself to good, to correct his mistakes as much as he can. But people know him like a bad man and no one believes that he may be good guy.

That`s what I think. I may be wrong.

I love this song. I was at Soundwave in Australia when they played it live for the first time and it got the whole crowd going!! The prospect of Billy Talent III excites me!

The "devil on the shoulder" is the opposite counterpart of the angel who offers wise and virtuous advice. He's saying that he can't sell his soul for success because it's already forfeit due to his wickness and stupidity. Probably not intended to be taken literally.

I agree with LineSinker and Letmein. I believe it's about having a vice, obsessing over it, letting it kill you.
