Love Etc. Lyrics
You need more(x9)
Boy it's tough getting on in the world
when the sun doesn't shine and a boy needs a girl.
It's about getting out of a rut, you need luck
but you're stuck and you don't know how, oh.
(Don't have to be) A big bucks Hollywood star.
(Don't have to drive) A super car to get far.
(Don't have to live) A life of power and wealth.
(Don't have to be) Beautiful but it helps.
(Don't have to buy) A house in Beverly Hills.
(Don't have to have) Your daddy paying the bills.
(Don't have to live) A life of power and wealth.
(Don't have to be) Beautiful but it helps.
You need more...
Than a big blank check to be a lover, or
a gulfstream jet to fly you door to door.
Somewhere chic on another shore.
You need more(x9)
Too much of anything
is never enough.
Too much of everything
is never enough.
(Don't have to wear) A smile much colder than ice.
(Don't have to be) Beautiful but it's nice.
You need more...
Than the Gerhard Richter hangin' on your wall.
A chauffeur-driven limousine on call
to drive your wife and lover to a white tie ball.
You need more (x7)
I believe that we can achieve
the love that we need.
I believe, call me naive,
love is for free.
(Don't have to be) A big bucks Hollywood star.
(Don't have to drive) A super car to get far.
(Don't have to live) A life of power and wealth.

This awesome NEW song having one freaking comment?!! The PSB page did not even have the rest of the lyrics and I had to add them. Where are the fans?!
This song is about love being greater than everything in the world. It tells you that all materialistic things won't matter to you in the long run. Love is all you need. Simple really, but addictive music and sweet lyrics. PSB are back!
No no no. It doesn't say exactly that. I think the meaning is pretty straight forward, no second guess between the lines.

It just says that to get love, stuff like money, power, fame, beauty are not really needed. But as the song points out, in the chorus nonetheless, they sure do help!

It isn't placing love above all that stuff, or stating that a love based on any of those is less valid... it isn't a preachy song. Just an authentic, cynic, lovable one :)

Great way to come back, PSB!

As far as I can tell, it's about how it takes so much to become wealthy and famous and yet it's not actually worth it since getting it doesn't really satisfy and in the process you'll abandon things that are worth it (like love.)
This song is awesome! I love the back-and-forth between the lead and backup singers, and the great "you need more" chanting. Yeah, Prometeo is on the right track about the meaning. Here's my interpretation:
The song is speaking to some one in a "rut," probably really jaded, depressed, or even afraid to get out and meet people. Either way, the person is feeling unfulfilled in their life and they "need more."
The first bit, "Boy it's tough getting on in the world//when the sun doesn't shine and a boy needs a girl," could be about when day turns to night and they're all alone in their bed, longing for some intimacy.
The chorus is about not needing all the superficial and shallow things that people might gravitate towards in their attempts at finding love. The line "Too much of anything//is never enough." Is about how no matter how much materialism/vanity/fame you pursue, it'll never be enough to make up for a lack of love in your life, since you're looking in the wrong places! But hell, as Prometeo stated, the song's a bit cynical in stating that these things do help a bit :P
At the end of the "you need more" chanting sections, the last line is "you need love." BTW, the music video is equally incredible! Sort of reminds me of old-school sidescroller video games mixed with the randomness of Monty Python.
P.S. Haha, I always find it amusing when the first few people are surprised that nobody else is making comments... it's a new song, and this website isn't that well known! What do you expect?!
