Hey, Snow White Lyrics

Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right

How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?

When the company goes public
You've got to learn to love what you are
When the company goes public
You've got to learn to love what you are

Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right

How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?
How can you win some?

When the company goes public
You've got to learn to love what you are
When the company goes public
You've got to learn to love what you are
You've got to learn to love what you are
You've got to learn to love what you are

Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right
Hey, Snow White
It's going to be all right, it's going to be all right

I think this song is about someone who is perhaps a little over sensitive/self-conscious "Hey, Snow White-" who is being consoled over general insecurity "-it's going to be alright". The insecurity comes from when your life or something you are a part of/associate with "the company" goes from being private to public. The way to overcome anxiety that might come from that loss of privacy is to love who you are so it can stand the test of public scrutiny. That's how you can win some. "some" being the vague part of the song allowing the audience to draw their own meaning.

Sorry the literal interpretation but the others ones above me irritated me so much! Cocaine? Really??

amazing track i heard off "Dark Was The Night"

if i was to take a stab at the meaning i'd say its simply about the emotion of letting people in to your life. snow white is this sacchrine fairy tale of innocence and.... i dunno i trailed off but thats what i take from the song. y'know, be happy and jump in

lolwut? its deffinetly not about cocaine, it says hey snow white but that is the only line in the whole song that could reference to that, and if it did the rest of the song wouldn't make much sense.

I might be wrong because I know almost nothing about about the New Pornographers, but I always thought this song was about Neko Case's rise to fame. She is relatively pale so Snow White would be an appropriate nickname.

Love the song :-)

This song is about your tipical middle class house wife that starts to struggle finacialy because of her husband losing his job or maybe losing her own job?

Was that a threat?

Snow White is an incredibly common street term for cocaine. I don't understand why the author would use that specific name when few of the other lyrics address specifics, unless its referring to cocaine.

But the music sounds soothing, like the subject is going through a coke crash. "everythings gonna be all right"

"How can you win some?" the winning feeling is temporary and fleeting. You'll never feel like youre at the top of the podium after the high is gone, no matter what you've achieved.

Thus, he concludes that there comes a time when you must learn to "love what you are."

speaking of this subject, i chuckled the first time i heard the opening verse of kaputt.
