Dust And Water Lyrics
Oh I love the coal
I love the way you’re waiting
I love your kind patience
I told you this day would come
Did you think I’d leave you here
Forever
How long can dust wait
Ask the moon
But ask him soon
I love the way you’re waiting
I love your kind patience
Did you think I’d leave you here
Forever
Ask the moon
But ask him soon

ridiculously beautiful.
so, so, beautiful this song makes me think of rain in a desert, but that might be because the first time i heard it was with a slideshow of paintingss of desert (it's a video on youtube), and of course the desert accounts for the dust and the word water evoked rain. and there are parts where he's just gibbering (that sounds like an awful word to describe his beautiful singing, but there aren't lyrics and it's not quite scat singing, so i say gibberish) that sound like flowing water
also, the way he pronounces the words makes him sound like a young child, which makes me think of incredibly innocent childlike devotion (there's definitely an explicit element of love/devotion)
listening to this during a rainstorm... fits just perfectly (as long as the volume is high enough, of course)
ok, i seriously have a problem with this song. i can't stop listening to it. over and over and over, with the sound of rain, with sound-blocking headphones, with the rain again, i just can't stop
I love the feeling of eternity contained within the song. It does feel like a song about death to me though, in that we all become dust and water in the end.
