Give Me A Call

This is just merely my interpretation of the song. Which may not be the same as everyone elses - but that's music, isn't it.

Basically, for me, he's at a gig and what's he seeing in front of him produces an epiphany, that he wants a girl back that he had. They've perhaps fallen on tough times but he does realise he needs/wants her, and nothing will stop him. But he wants her to make the first move; hence Gimme A Call as the title.

I'm sure Tommy had something completely different in his head when writing it. Fantastic tune though, the boy has a knack for songwriting.

ABC is a class venue by the way, just behind Barrowlands in my view for best in Glasgow. Will be seeing Mr. Reilly at The Garage though in March. Will be class.

when i first heard this song i must admit i didn't really like it

but after a few more listens i have actually come to love it ! couldn't say what it is about though but it reminds liking someone but being a bit shy about it and hopeing they will make the first move or even an incident that reminds you just how much you want someone and you really want them to realise back - if that makes sence

I think it's about somebody who is reminded of a past relationship, "cause I saw something today that made it all come back to me" but there's maybe a part of him that doesn't want her to call "but she aint stopping me no"?

This song is amazing. Everyone's interpretations here are different and well, here's mine - probably wrong but oh well. :) He meets a girl, he thinks she's lovely and then she doesn't get in contact with him again. Almost like a one night stand.

It's like they're in a club or at a gig or something, dancing together, really good chemistry.

She didn't call, even though he probably gave her his number and said she would.

I dont think this song is about a girl he just met or met once cause he seems really bothered about her.

I think the first and second verse are all about him dreaming, like "i need to be clear of mind to dream" and then he says "a white square piercing a jet black sky" and "she falls down all pretty and bright".. i dont really know why but this reminds me of her like being sent down from somewhere cause she's so bright and she "falls down", like she's an angel to him.

I think its more about a girl he likes, they havent really dated or done anything.. but she's just totally ignoring him and wont call him. I think "She loves this very floor" is like saying this is the club she goes to, but she's not been there cause she's avoiding him. Its not letting him stop him though cause he's realised he's tired of chasing after girls who dont want him.

This song is immense! Tommy Reilly is a talented man. Its simple but heartfelt and its so flexible, everybody can relate it to something.

This is what it means for me...

Hes a regular at ABC, so is the girl. They share drinks and they dance and talk (or shout in each others ears) and when hes dreaming hes dreaming of her.

She has his number. They might have kissed drunkenly before, when he says "Cause I saw something today that made it all come...back to me" something like that has popped into his mind and hes realised he really likes her. I think she likes the club and the drinks and the dancing,"she loves this very floor". He tried to convince himself that was all he was in it for aswell but now hes realised he has stronger feelings.

Hes obviously desperate for her to phone him but he knows that she won't. Thats why he talks about dreaming.

When he says "But she aint stopping me no, Cause I reached that point in my life" he knows hes never going to be with her but hes stuck between wanting her desperately and having reached the point when he knows he should let her go and set his sights on one of the other many hot chikas at the ABC on a Saturday night.

I think when he says "See this girl was here and she aint no more, She loves this very floor" He realises shes gone and thinks she might have gone home with someone else. She loves the club, why else would she leave early? And hes losing control because hes thinking about it and its making him crazy.

basically i reckon

like everyone else he's met this girl in the abc quite liked her, swapped phone numbers or he gave his to her. and he really likes hers and is waiting by the phone as such for her to text or call. She hasnt so in the chorus he is just expressing how simple it is to contact some one in this day and age.

also i noticed the line "turn it on cause i need to hear from you" is saying he has contacted her and she hasnt replied as opposed to waiting by the phone.

because she hasnt contacted him, he is going back out on the pull to find someone else to take his mind off the first girl

if someone with a rly nice voice did a cover of this, maybe pixi lott, as her verison of 'use somebody-kings opf leon' is pretty good, this would be probably an amazing song.

it's rly good now tho. just sayin
