Aeon Lyrics
Oh aeon
My baby boy
Oh aeon will take care of me
All the stars, your eyes
Raining just for me
Oh aeon will set me free
Oh aeon
My baby boy
Oh aeon will repair me
Oh his heart enjoyed
Restores eyes alloyed
Carry me through the olden void
Oh aeon
His arms are warm
Oh aeon was never born
Aeon’s eyes forlorn
He contains the storm
He’s the pasture of my dawn
Oh aeon
My baby boy
Oh aeon will take care of me
Hold my father
For he is myself
Without him I wouldn’t exist
Oh aeon
My baby boy
Oh aeon will take care of me
Hold that man
In your tender clutch
Hold that man I love so much
Let's do something differently
Let's take our power back
It doesn't have to be this way
Oh no, we don't know
Nothing bad about this world
My baby boy
Oh aeon will take care of me
Raining just for me
Oh aeon will set me free
My baby boy
Oh aeon will repair me
Restores eyes alloyed
Carry me through the olden void
His arms are warm
Oh aeon was never born
He contains the storm
He’s the pasture of my dawn
My baby boy
Oh aeon will take care of me
For he is myself
Without him I wouldn’t exist
My baby boy
Oh aeon will take care of me
In your tender clutch
Hold that man I love so much
Let's take our power back
It doesn't have to be this way
Nothing bad about this world

i made an account just to comment on how beautiful this song is.
i think it has something to do with his father dying... as pure speculation, i see it as a mix of his father addressing him, saying that eternity will take care of him, and a son giving him over to eternity and death. (i listen to the song as addressing the baby boy, not calling the baby boy "aeon," though i don't know if that's decideable....)
and, the real reason i love the song, is the way he yells that "SO MUCH." can't help but tear up a bit, you know?
"The word aeon, also spelled eon or æon, means "age", "forever" or "for eternity". It is a Latin transliteration from the koine Greek word ὠαἰών (aion), from the archaic αἰÏών (aiwon). In Homer it typically refers to life or lifespan, but by at least Hesiod it could refer to ages or generations. It has a similar meaning to the Sanskrit word kalpa and Hebrew word olam. A cognate Latin word aevum or aeuum (cf. αἰÏών) for "age" is present in words such as longevity and mediæval."
@Coow What is Hesiod?

while i'm at it, it really feels to me like a father/son back and forth, and thinking of it that way makes it really poignant to me. because the father, at death, says that eternity will repair him, but at the end (on the album version anyways) antony sings "oh no, we don't know nothin daddy but this world", a sort of really sad opposite viewpoint on death and eternity.

Saw it on Letterman - beautiful vox and beautiful song
"...Now mother Ceres was quite desperate. If Persephone were above ground, there would be hope of regaining her. However, now that the poor child was shut up underground, there seemed to be no way of rescuing her. So poor Mother Ceres lost all hope. She cared not what became of her, or of the earth that was intrusted to her. Day after day, month after month, she roamed about, weeping and moaning. In her hand she still carried the flaming torch, and on her head was the wreath of withered poppies she had forgotten to throw away. The crops faded and died, and all the earth became brown and bare...
...Everyone who knew her great power begged her to have mercy and let the grass grow, "Never!" she cried. "If anything grows again, it must grow along the path my daughter will take in coming back to me.""
From "Persephone"
I think the dead one is his son. "Oh aeon was never born" His son dies young, and no one will take care of him.
I have no idea what Antony intended the song to mean, but what I get out of it is that he is claiming his own faith, or religion for lack of a better way to say it; that no pre-established faith has any meaning or accurate worth any longer, so he has created his "Creator," simultaneously the one responsible for his existence while he is responsible for their existence: One he refers to as "Aeon." Lines like "Aeon was never born" lead me to think this, as in Aeon had no birth because Aeon had no beginning but is eternal. Either way what I get out of it is something deeply, deeply spiritual. "Let's take our power back, let's do something differently, it doesn't have to be this way," like he's crying out to his true spirit guide that he can be a believer in something greater by claiming a belief greater than one that perhaps was regurgitated to him from a very young age or even the womb. Perhaps Aeon is his God; his Everything. That's what I get.out of it ????????????????
