Mr. Highway's Thinking About the End Lyrics
Wake up!
Oh how the times have changed
Your not the person I knew back then
Lets get this straight
This is a calling where fist are flying
You lack of inspiration
Where not the same
I'll do whatever it takes
To get it through to you
When you come here today
Where not the same?
You are worthless
Stay in your place
It's like speaking in tongues
To all of you now
Will we ever (will we ever) get what we deserve
How long until the tables turn
Will we ever (will we ever) get what we deserve
I've created a monster
It's a side of me that
No one should see
So quit stalling
'Cause your backs keep walking away
Your likeness to destruction
We are not the same
I've struggled too long to sit back
And let you take this from me
We are not the same
I have giving everything
It's like speaking in tongues
To all of you now (to all of you now)
Will we ever (will we ever) get what we deserve
How long until the tables turn
Will we ever (will we ever) get what we deserve
(Get what we deserve) Get what we deserve
Get what we deserve
Disrespect your surroundings
You won't make it out alive
You won't make it out alive
You won't make it out alive
You won't make it out alive
It's like speaking in tongues
To all of you now
Will we ever (will we ever) get what we deserve
How long until the tables turn
Will we ever (will we ever) get what we deserve
Will we ever get what we deserve

If you listen to "You won't make it out alive (x4)" The lead vocalist cleary says "It's Like Speaking In Tongues for all you know" 'know' sounds like 'now' based on his accent

The song is about the movie "Heartbreak Ridge," starring Clint Eastwood. His character's name is Tom Highway. The movie frequently covers Clint Eastwood's character thinking about the end of his marine career and what he will do when he gets out of the core.
Don't look far into it, the lyrics relate directly to the plot of the movie.
From an interview with Jeremy
"A few of our song titles are actually movie quotes," says A Day to Remember singer Jeremy McKinnon. "'Mr. Highway's Thinking About the End' is from The Good Son, while 'I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What are You Made Of?' is from Night at the Museum."
to me its about being with a girl and things changed and she's being a bitch and he wants her to leave maybe? and then he's talking to some other guys or his buddies and saying "man when will we get a better chick?" ("when will we ever get what we deserve?")
"it's like speaking in tongues to all of you now" - only guys who went through similar shit get it, possibly?
first comment here at songmeanings :P big day for me. INFACT its a day to remember ;) alright, bad pun... but to me.. this song is life as a musician? and how all the bigger bands are getting so noticed and how they take it for for granted/ dont deserve it, and how they deserve to be big. but that break down is. by FAR the BESTT BREAK DOWN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats right, i said it. and to me it seems SOOOOO SIMPLE yet SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone going to comment about the song? thats kinda why i came on this site, not to see lyric corrections
This one wasn't yet uploaded so i thought id give it a go. Its one of the first ive tried to interpret myself so theres bound to be some wrong bits. I couldnt get the line in the chorus? and im pretty sure its not "get what he deserves" it might be "get what we deserve" ? im not sure, anyone have any ideas?
In general i think you did a great job on this one, seeing as it's one of his harder songs to understand. I feel that that's definetely the right line in the chorus. A couple things I noticed though was one, I feel that the first line is "All of the times have changed." I could easily be wrong on that though it's just a guess. Second, the line after "We are not the same," seems to start with "I'll do whatever it takes to get a..." and thats all i got so far. Hope that helps....

oo and btw - adtr and this cd are both amazingggg
well now that you guys mentioned the "for all you know" part of the chorus, that sounds more like it. i always thought it was "we'll argue now" ha
I used to think it said, "where are you now?" before I got the CD with lyrics, lolz.
