Holdin' It Down for the Underground Lyrics

Been through a lot this last year
Like everything I love is slipping away
And every time I come home
Somebody it isn't there
I got to get it together
I got to do things for myself
I've giving everything
Plus you take some from me
I need some room to breath

[Chorus:]
Come on come on
You know this isn't what we planned on
Come on come on
Tell me will be o.k.
(will be o.k.)
Lets go back lets go back
To a time where I
Still felt I had a family

This isn't what I remember
Everyone is looking
Out for just themselves
And need be I'd be happy to leave
?
I see straight through
That smile straight through
That painted face
Don't think I can't tell
Which one of you is against me

[Chorus]

I am the greatest thing that falls
I turn my back and look at the walls?

Pay attention!!!!

[Chorus]

Been through a lot this last year
Like everything I love is slipping away

I think it could possibly be:

"Just be warned, I’ll be taking my success with me"

I bet that's it. hooray! thanks man.

Actually merkedez the lyircs are "I have the greatest faith in fools, I turned my back and out came the wolves"

i actually have the homesick album and checked the right lyrics

I love this song I think the start of the song tells us of how he doesnt feel as a whole and someones just bringing him down and hes realising this by saying "I've gotta get it together"

Then the song i believe goes on to saying how everyones becoming so self involved and fake but hes standing up and saying that hes not buying it.

Then i think "I have the greatest faith in fools, I turned my back and out came the wolves" basically means that he put his trust into people he thought were friend to him but obviously they turned out to be liars and untrustworthy

hope that helps guys :)

You all had good guesses, but I have listened to this part of the song over and over and I finally figured out what he says, the correct lyrics are,

If need be, I’ll be happy to leave Just be warned, I’ll be taking my SUITCASE with me

It makes complete sense when you listen to the song, also.

"I turn my back and you get the worst!"

Could it be that?

well in my opinion it is saying that when ever you think that you trust someone that wont betray you wou will turn your back for a second and they will stab you in the back

so the wolves refering to the fools not yourself again just in my opinion

Nobody's really taken a shot at the meaning, and it's pretty self-evident, but here goes anyways.

If this song had to be summed up in one word, it would probably be betrayal. The writer talks about how there are people working against them and how they don't think that the writer knows this. Also, the writer implies that they shouldn't have trusted people, and the second they turned their back, they regretted the choice to trust who they did.

The writer appears to be addressing somebody, and they seem to be marginally involved in the backstabbing, although it seems the writer has faith in the idea that maybe they weren't a central figure to it or largely responsible for it. He implores them to go back to a time when none of this was happening. The writer draws a line, asking the person to prove themselves by leaving with them, knowing that if they have to leave alone, then the person most likely did take sides against him.
