Send Him Away Lyrics

I can't seem to feel the envy
I should I feel or maybe
I don't need the sour side of love
Of love

No, I don't care his breath is in your hair
Well, I don't care his skin is still between
The still warm fold of your sheets
Send him away

I don't mean to claim or own you
Or maybe I would like to
But I need whatever side of love
Is there

No, I don't care his breath is in your hair
Well, I don't care his skin is still between
The still warm fold of your sheets
From the fold of your sheets
Send him away

Send him away
Send him away
Send him away
Send him away

Oh, can't you let me stay tonight?
Oh, can't you let me stay tonight?
Oh, can't you let me stay tonight?
Oh, can't you let me stay tonight?
Oh, can't you let me stay tonight?
Can't you let me stay tonight?

I think you might mean "I don't care whose breath is in your hair/No, I don't care whose skin is still between" and so on. That's what I hear, at least, and it makes more sense, gramatically.

My Opinion

It sounds like this whole song is about rebound sex and the guy speaking is jealous of the other guy the girl he's slept with is trying to get over.

Yeah, I thought it was "whose" as well. To me, the whole song felt like he was in love or some sort of obssession with this woman who refuses to be tied down, and prefers instead to partake in various simultaneous relationships; he is trying to act like he doesn't mind but you can see that he is actually falling apart over her. I felt like he was essentially saying "I don't care who else you've been fucking, just send him away and make it only me."

It's simply loving someone in the moment. No thoughts to the future or past, no jealousy, no one else but the two of them. It fits very well with the whole feel of the album.

On a personal note, I'm in the middle of one of these types of relationships right, so every lyric makes complete sense to me

I just see a guy who's in love with a girl that's already in a relationship. In other words, he likes a girl that's already taken. To me, it almost sounds like an affair.

"I can't seem to feel the envy I should I feel or maybe I don't need the sour side of love Of love"

He isn't jealous of anybody, he just wants to love her.

"No, I don't care his breath is in your hair Well, I don't care his skin is still between The still warm fold of your sheets Send him away"

He doesn't care that she's sleeping with another guy, and wants her to "send him away."

"Oh, can't you let me stay tonight?"

This is what makes it seem more like he's the guy on the outs, rather than someone being cheated on. He doesn't even really have a relationship with the girl (or it's just sex), but he wants to be able to love her.
