Twilight Galaxy Lyrics
Did they tell you, you should grow up
When you wanted to dream.
Did they warn you, better shape up
If you want to succeed
I don't know about you, who are they talking to?
They're not talking to me.
I'm higher than high
Lower than deep,
I'm doing it wrong
And singing along
I'm higher than high
Lower than deep
I'm doing it wrong
And singing along
Did I ask you for attention
When affection is what I need
Thinking sorrow is perfection,
I'd wallow 'til you told me
There's no glitter in the gutter,
There's no twilight galaxy.
Go higher than high, Ooh
Go lower than deep, Ooh
Keep doing it wrong, Ooh
Keep singing along, Ooh
Go higher than high, Ooh
Go lower than deep, Ooh
Doing it wrong, Ooh
Keep singing along, Ooh
I'm alright
C'mon baby
I've seen all the demons that you've got.
If you're not alright
Now c'mon baby
I'll pick you up and take you where you want
Anywhere you want
Anywhere you want
Anywhere you want
Anything you want
I'm higher than high, Ooh
Lower than deep, Ooh
Doing it wrong, Ooh
And singing along, Ooh
Go higher than high, Ooh
Go lower than deep, Ooh
Keep doing it wrong, Ooh
Keep singing along, Ooh

this song is really nice but for some reason i prefer the acoustic version. the same goes with collect call. it sounds waaaaay better acoustic.
this song seems like encouragement. even though they(authority figures) tell you that you should stop dreaming. dont. "go higher than high" shoot for your dreams "lower than deep" even if it means you have to get a little dirty or take risks. "im higher than high" i did it and now im happy.
Authority figures eh? Well that's pretty retarded from my point of view:

Until I started tenaciously pursuing my dreams, I had been a miserable depressed pseudo-suicidal wreck chasing after mediocre careers, cars and curls... without any happiness at all. I have all kinds of baggage that contributed to all that, but working on my dreams abated me of all of that (surprisingly). Never been more sure of what I'm doing and where I'm going.

Most importantly, I'm shocked and amazed with what I'm learning now along the way.

So when authority figures tell you not to dream, from my vantage point that is akin to telling you to be happy and content with being lost and confused. Take it from me, that is a huge myth, just massively wrong.
Ok and I suppose my interpretation of the song is... yeah the whole "I've seen all the demons that you've got" hit me hardest. I think she might be saying that your demons aren't necessarily what's standing in your way.
Actually, I have a different opinion on the "daemons". "I've seen all the daemons that you've got" in context is about understanding that "there's no glitter in the gutter" but you can still go "higher then high". It's about accepting and facing those daemons: your reality of real gutters, but not letting yourself fall into the gutters and into the grasp of the daemons, but instead reaching "higher then high".

Teenagers. That is all.
I'm turning 20 next year. Then I'm technically not a teen anymore. I just hope these feelings will just go away?

Think of it like this:
You're chasing a dream and everyone says that's pointless and you're wasting your time doing this thing; everyone except the one that you love, who supports you through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
Chasing a dream and being loved and supported at the same time. It's almost a song of life in a way.
This is amazing acoustic, but its the same lyrically as the electronic version, so i guess the person who posted Twilight originally should edit their lyrics.
the lyrics are different in the acoustic version. they're a lot more hard hitting, in my opinion. it actually makes me want to cry. emily haines, you're a lyrical genius.
I'm not sure how it should be differentiated between the 2006 (or was it 2007?) version to the album version.
Okay so now I gotta say I agree with Joey, the second verse in particular really talks to me. The upbeat nature of the upcoming album is spectacular.
naah i meant the same as the new electronic version. but yeah i'm still deciding if i like the second verse or not... It made me cringe a bit at first when she fist said "theres no twilight galaxy" because i thought it contradicted the old lyrics or something ahha.
i don't think it really contradicted the old version. i think this song is about emily thinking about where she's going with her music and what the future has to offer. sort of destroying the legend of the "twilight galaxy" and who knows, maybe inbetween the old and new version, she made that step to understanding what it's all about. at least to her, for now.
emily used to talk about how she would explore the sadder parts to life because she believed that that's where the deeper parts in life were. and i think that second verse really is about her getting over this sadness that feels, really coming to terms with it and confronting it. i don't know. hahaha.
i think that this song is about stupid people stealing childrens' innocence and genuinity by destroying they're dreams and happiness in attempt to make them see the world as it is today, when really, the world can change into whatever change you make and like LIGHTS once said, "it's not about trying to change the world, it's trying to not be changed by it..."

great lyrics, but anyway, from what year is the song from which are the lyrics taken from?
