This is death metal, it's just in the subgenre of "melodic death metal".
There's been some suggestion that the lyric "the gift we give you is your soul" is a hint as to why some of the Tribunal wants to stop/hinder/kill Dethklok.
I wouldn't be suprised if this song in its entirety is foreshadowing what will unfold in future plots.. like "we're damned by god's, our deth's conspired," it's obvious that Selectia or however u spell it is a god of sorts, and that Dethklok (my opinion) is being set up by the tribunal because of some ancient scheme. can't wait for the next season, or the next Dethalbum!

Even though it's not exactly death metal, I love this song. It's catchy as hell. Especially the pinch harmonics. Brendon Small is a genius!
