Everything Must Go Lyrics
We found a house
with a yard
And moved all of my things in
And most of your things in
And honey I was proud of it
Yeah honey I was proud of, you...
You quote the good book
when its convenient
but you dont have the sense
no you dont have the sense
to tie your tangled toungue
instead you slash it through the mud
and some boxes
and hand me down couch, and chair
they used to be at your church
we borrowed them from there
and cabinet-record player
with nothin but james taylor
tore the carpets from the corners
to put in that hardwood floor
i'd be a fool to have asked for more
You quote the good book
when its convenient
but you dont have the sense
no you dont have the sense
to tie your tangled tongue
instead you slash it through the mud
The love you had was good enough
The paths that we were stuck between
beside myself i stop to think,
oh lord what have i done
You quote the good book
when its convenient
but you dont have the sense
no you dont have the sense
to tie your tangled tounge
instead you slash it through the mud
" "

This track gives me the chills, unadulterated Adam Lazzara right there!

Mhm, "Slashing through the mud" makes more sense. because 'you don't have the sense to tie your tangles tongue" means that the person talks crap (for lack of a better word) about whatever. "Slashing mud" would mean ruining his name, if you think about it.

The vocals are amazing. I love the slight shakiness when he says "tongue".
it's closer to this IMO

"Slashing" meaning drinking but i do hear mud in there too...
the song is obviously about the ending of Adam's engagement to Chauntelle DuPree from Eisley. The whole "You quote the good book" is a reference to Chantelle's strong religious beliefs.
thats pretty good man, glad to have someone else's ear for this song, i was only listening to a live preformance on youtube, i'll change it to your version

I got to hear the whole of new again tonight - it's going to blow you away ;) I also spoke to adam after, who said it's not 'talk this through to dawn' but 'tie your tangled tongue'
Quite like the intro on this one :) and general sound

there's more, but i can't tell what it is.
These lyrics are definitely more accurate.
These lyrics are definitely more accurate.
it's "sloshing through the mud"
I think the first couple of lines "we found a house with a yard/ and moved all of my things in/ and most of your things in" might not be a literal house, but refers to the relationship adams past engagement that went wrong. him moving all his things in is saying he put his everything into it to make it work, but she never could put everything in
man, i do love the beginning of this song.
"You quote the good book when its convenient but you dont have the sense no you dont have the sense to tie your tangled tounge instead you slash it through the mud"
...You quote the good book when its convenient...
man, that really hits home for me. You know, when someone makes sense, but you can't really explain it?
"beside myself I stop to think, Oh lord what have I done."
Great line to express regret
pretty obvious what he means when he says "you quote the good book when its convenient, but you don't have the sense to tie your tangled tongue".
pretty obvious what he means when he says "you quote the good book when its convenient, but you don't have the sense to tie your tangled tongue".
he means that the lady here has strong religious beliefs which she has used to justify her actions taken in the relationship. when so often these beliefs being used to base their life on, does not make the person a respectable or a mature one. saying also that she is babbling on making excuses for her behaviour based on what the good book says, not learning about emotional maturity etc.

forgive...
forgive me for sounding bitter, and i don't mean to knock people who believe in God, but i can relate to this song very well, just came out of a relationship with a girl who was much the same as what he's singing about.
