The Safest Place Lyrics

I’m convinced I’ve seen, an escape for everything,
They might have different names, but they’re all the same,
But the secret’s safe inside, alone and dark it hides,
And I’d ignore it, but it won’t go away

And all I feel is static, this beat is automatic,
I’ve tried to kick this habit, but every time I grab it

I, won’t be the safest place to hide,
Take this cup from me, your sick and twisted lies
And I won’t be your safest place to hide,
Lord, help me break these chains, I need to see the light

And now I see the way, You’ve constructed me,
Taking all that was, and throwing it away,
Now I know it’s just, the flame in all of us,
And I can burn this up, or blow it away

And all I feel is static, this beat is automatic,
I’ve tried to kick this habit, but every time I grab it

I, won’t be the safest place to hide,
Take this cup from me, your sick and twisted lies
And I won’t be your safest place to hide,
Lord, help me break these chains, I need to see the light

And all I feel is friction, I don’t want it, I hate this addiction
(repeat 6x)

I, won’t be the safest place to hide,
Take this cup from me, your sick and twisted lies
And I won’t be your safest place to hide,
Lord, help me break these chains, I need to see the light
I, won’t be the safest place to hide,
Take this cup from me, your sick and twisted lies
And I won’t be your safest place to hide,
Lord, help me break these chains, I need to see the light

I think this song is about a drug addiction and how he doesn't want it but can't "break the chains" and is asking for God to help.

Song Meaning

or maybe, like, not even necessarily specifically drugs... idk, just thinking.

it doesn't sound like a drug addiction just an addiction, if you want to really get specific i would say a drinking problem is it. this song should be applied to any negative habit from porn to lying to drugs

I think it might be an addiction to porn, and this is even awkward to type but possibly even masturbation.

And all I feel is friction, I dont want it, I hate this addiction

Well personally i feel this song is about all forms of drug/alcoholic escapes, some people need drugs or alcohol to escape from the everyday and then they get addicted and the escape or "cure" from life then becomes the disease and was the disease from the beginning. I also hear instead of "all i feel is friction, i don't want it i hate this addiction" i hear instead "And all i feel is affliction, i don't want it i hate this addiction" which seems to make more sense since the song is about all addictions as the first line states "Im convinced i've seen, an escape for everything, they might have different names but their all the same" which to me seems hes not just talking about heroin or coccaine or alcohol or any destructive addiction that all do the same thing. anyway thats my 2 cents.

I don't think that this song is about any addiction is specific but it is about addiction/sin in general. Hence that he says "They might have different names, but they’re all the same,". I believe that the song is about sin not being 'safe' in him. He says "But the secret’s safe inside, alone and dark it hides, And I’d ignore it, but it won’t go away" Which I believe means that he has sin that he keeps inside but does not confront. When he says "I won’t be the safest place to hide," he is saying that with God's help he can resist sin.
