I know he mumbles, but is it really that hard to listen to the song?
Also, it's clearly about being stuck in a dead end rut that seems busy but holds nothing. He's got no good stories to the point where he can't remember what goes where in a good story (hence the second verse) and he doesn't want to die that way.
Sounds like a Social Distortion track - definitely a great driving song!
