Hikikomori and the Rental Sisters Lyrics
and the brave son, stares at his white bedroom walls
and the brave daughter, knocks on the door in the hall
and the brave son, covers his ears when she calls
and brave daughter, makes conversation and stalls
she tries to get him to come, out where the sharp bullets fly
she knows his self-worth, won't do much against leaden sky
she knows the last thought, he has after each bento box
is of a shark fin, they're circling all subway stops
and that his old man, is ancient and working till death
to keep his clothes on, beneath his prisoner's desk
he's spent the years now, reciting the lyrics of song
he tries to leave now, but somewhere the beat has gone wrong
and the brave daughter, knocks on the door in the hall
and the brave son, covers his ears when she calls
and brave daughter, makes conversation and stalls
she tries to get him to come, out where the sharp bullets fly
she knows his self-worth, won't do much against leaden sky
she knows the last thought, he has after each bento box
is of a shark fin, they're circling all subway stops
and that his old man, is ancient and working till death
to keep his clothes on, beneath his prisoner's desk
he's spent the years now, reciting the lyrics of song
he tries to leave now, but somewhere the beat has gone wrong

i don't necessarily thing "brave" is meant to be sarcastic. the "brave son" is brave. he would venture out wherever he feels he's needed to take care of what he needs to. but the critique of the modern world and society that he lives (we live) in isn't a place where bravery is necessary. if anything, it's a place the brave son would rather deny. to venture into this world wouldn't be brave. it's almost as though it would be giving up.
