Mr. Sensitive Lyrics

Day in and day out
Watch him scream, watch him shout
Through the silence, through the silence
Give him ears, give him eyes
Give some point to the cries and the violence
Hear him scream your name

I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him
Get the best of him

This city feels low
Against the gleam and the glow of his diligence
To their elegance
Just feel anger, feel pain
Feel the sun and the rain
Just feel something
Oh, feel something
Hear him scream your name

I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him
Get the best of him

They throw the stones, the bricks and bones
He didn't stand a chance they said
A little boy, the world in tow
But ignorance is bliss

I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him
Get the best of him

This is what David said it was about in that EW interview with Chris Willman...

Was the title of "Mr. Sensitive" meant to be ironic in any way?

David: The song was unintentionally ironic. I had the harmonic riff in my head for five months. In my lyric journal, I had "Mr. Sincere" written down, and sincere turned into sensitive. I wanted to write about something outside myself and get a little metaphorical. He lives in a village devoid of feeling. They get so afraid of this child who has feelings that they kill him. It kind of took on this Tim Burton-like, twisted vision of James and the Giant Peach for me. But I know people look at me as that sensitive guy.

oh. i thought it was about his brother, and the battles he goes through. but david knows better than anyone what his songs are about.

and this is completely off-topic, but i would just like to point out that david cook has the most piercing and soulful eyes ever. amen.

Haha yea, the eyes. I also thought it could be about his brother since so many of his other songs are. But I never felt certain about any interpretation I came up with, so thanks L-Kyne for the clarification. Very different than I expected!
