Heavier Things Remain (Graviora Manent) Lyrics
A hollow hallelujah hangs in the corner
With the rest of our dissolving years
You're the storm and the calm,
The dove and the bomb,
The ghost that relieves all my fears
Don't let this bed turn cold
As years and sheets unfold
We'll be able to sleep all alone
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I wouldn't have you anywhere else
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I want you here all to myself
Like a land-worthy sailor, I even falter at failure
Trying to find my heading back home
You're the cure and the disease, the vice I still need
The cast and the break in my bones
You're the life that's worth living, the hurt and forgiving,
You're Jesus to the demons you've put in my head
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I wouldn't have you anywhere else
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I want you here all to myself
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I wouldn't have you anywhere else
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I want you here all to myself
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world...
[Weight of the world]
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I want you here all to myself
With the rest of our dissolving years
You're the storm and the calm,
The dove and the bomb,
The ghost that relieves all my fears
As years and sheets unfold
We'll be able to sleep all alone
The weight of the world is on top of me
And I wouldn't have you anywhere else
[Weight of the world]

this song should have undoubtedly made New Surrender...
I'm almost positive it's "The dove and the bomb" (Peace and war). And I think "The life is spent from cold" is wrong. My best guess is "Don't let this pass in cold." I thought the last line of the first verse is "Won't be able to sleep all alone" but you might actually be right there. I can't tell.
it's hollow hallelujah. hallow would technically make sense, but i can hear the word hollow clear as day.
I'm mad that this is an iTunes exclusive, I hate iTunes. I'd rather it were an Amazon.com exclusive able to be purchased by itself.
I love this song. I don't understand why they didn't put it on New Surrender. & you can't even get it on iTunes w/o buying the whole album. Ugh. :/
This is obviously in the relationship category but anyone have further insight into direct meaning about the lyrics?

Re: Showcreator
I don't think it necessarily has to do with a relationship. The person("You") that the song is referring to is not specifically someone who he's romantically involved with. The person however is a significant burden to the singer, but it's a burden that he wants to take on, maybe even feels like he needs to. A Glorious Burden if you will.

Oh yeah, it also seems that this person is not only the cause but also the cure of his malady's.

"You're the cure and the disease, the vice I still need The cast and the break in my bones"
"You're the cure and the disease, the vice I still need The cast and the break in my bones"
just my 2 cents.
just my 2 cents.
I think this is about a guy who is in love with a girl. and doesnt want to ever be without her. but the guy did something "the weight of the world is on top of me" and doesnt want to tell the girl because he is afraid he would lose her.
I think it's "passion", "pass in", or "passing". And what about "coal" or "call". And the chorus might be "And I'll hold you here all to myself." It sounds different every time I listen.
The UK version has the lyrics to this song. Anyone who has it want to find out?
Also, "heavier things remain" is the literal translation of "graviora manent" which is commonly taken to mean "the worst is yet to come".
I think that these lyrics are about someone in the singer's life whom they can't live without even though that person isn't any good for them. Even though the singer knows that this relationship is going to turn sour, he will enjoy/tolerate it while it lasts. The other person is a contradiction in that they are the problem and the solution for the singer.
