Heard It in a Love Song Lyrics
I ain't never been with a woman long enough, for my boots to get old.
We've been together so long now they both need resoled.
If I ever settle down you'd be my kind and it's a good time for me to head on down the line.
Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Can't be wrong.
I'm the kinda man likes to get away, like to start dreamin about tomorrow today.
Never said that I love you, even thought it's so
Where's that duffle bag of mine it's time to go.
Chorus
I'm gona be leavin at the break of dawn. Wish you could come but I don't need no woman taggin along.
So I'll sneak out that door couldn't stand to see you cry.
I'd stay another year if I saw a tear drop in your eye.
Chorus
I never had a damn thing but what I had I had to leave it behind.
You're the hardest thing I ever tried to get off my mind.
Always something greener on the other side of that hill.
I was born a wrangler and a rambler and I guess I always will
Chorus
We've been together so long now they both need resoled.

Just one small correction needed. The second line is "resoled", as in his boots had been worn to the point of needing new soles. It's not "be sewed" as was originally submitted.
It ain't no bar unless they have a bad cover band shredding this like old raggy sheets! Loves me some Marshall...
The flute is hypnotizing.
In the last verse, the line is “I was born a wrangler and a ROUNDER, and I guess I always will”
@JimmyRetired he always will what?

@JimmyRetired You’d need to ask the songwriter that question. I merely stated what the lyric is.

I always found it to be very clever that the lyrics of each stanza are contradictory, reflecting the conflicting emotions the song writer (Toy Caldwell) felt about the relationship. Great songwriting. And although the piano & flute add their magic to the melody, my favorite is the bass line.
I love this song, and currently can't get it out of my head. I love the conflict: he's been with this girl longer than any other, but feels the road calling. And I love the sentiment of the chorus: "heard it in a love song", therefore, it can't be wrong.
I only have one question: what is it that he heard in the love song?
BTW, my favorite line: Where's my g.d. duffle bag -- I gotta go!

@jpalumbos I guess he heard in the love song: don't stay with a woman too long. After a while hit the road. LOL Some love song
