Classics Iv – Spooky Lyrics

I was dating a girl while in high school when this song was released in late 1977. It fit her perfectly.
She was gorgeous, but a complete mystery to me. She ran hot and cold, just like the girl in the song. I could never guess what she’d be like at any given time. She wasn’t bitchy, just quirky. We lasted about 4 months together. What a lovely enigma she was, and still is, I bet. |

The Marshall Tucker Band – Heard It in a Love Song Lyrics
| 4 years ago

I always found it to be very clever that the lyrics of each stanza are contradictory, reflecting the conflicting emotions the song writer (Toy Caldwell) felt about the relationship.
Great songwriting.
And although the piano & flute add their magic to the melody, my favorite is the bass line. |

The Hollies – He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother Lyrics
| 4 years ago

The line, “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother” is the motto of the former Boy’s Town, in Nebraska, formed to help wayward young men and orphaned boys to find a healthy path in life.
Not sure Alan Clarke, being English, was even aware of that fact when he wrote the song.
I always took the whole song in the context of that Boy’s Town motto. |
